        PSE told me: "The blue pole and the ring lights are artistic additions to the transmission pole by an artist, Ellen Sollod, and are purely decorative. This pole art was part of the effort to integrate the new Ardmore Substation into this developing area of Redmond and Bellevue. The effort included decorative walls to hide the station, a living retaining wall of plants, a small park in front of the station on 24th, a concrete plaza around the pole and this pole with art work. The lights are programmed to light up in different patterns and come on early in the morning and at dusk until around 1:00AM the next day."
