Like all the group fitness instructors. I wish the pool, hot tub and steam rooms just work more often.

The gym was really nice when I joined in 2022. In the name of renovation they have almost doubled the price now while the quality (specially of mens locker room) has taken a nose dive! I continue to go to this gym as it is close to home and the trainer is a gem! Equipment is reasonably good. The mens locker room is a joke! I have to try at least 7-8 (open) lockers every time to find 1 that works. Apparently the batteries are an issue but the management refuses to do anything about this. Think about how basic this is but there just does not seem any intent to o fix this simple thing even after communication with their management team. Its funny to see everyone just trying to find a locker that works. Steam room is not to be talked about. They were renovating for 3-4 months at the end of 2023 when the steam room was inaccessible and then immediately after opening it was not working for weeks again. Currently it has been broken for the past 3-4 weeks and the notice says they are working diligently (no ETA for fix). I would love to get a number from 425 management on how many days in the past 1 year their steam room has been functional - I will bet anything it is lower than 25% (!) Its a pity that they charge you for all of these facilities as part of the membership fee and then they are simply unable to maintain the steam rooms and the batteries of the mens lockers even with such high membership fee! I am currently contemplating finding a better gym.

The dichotomy of being a member of both 425 fitness and Fitness quest has been incredibly eye-opening. 425 is $120 (no military discount either which was pretty shocking but whatever) where you receive no guest passes if you want to bring a friend, a day pass to even try the gym is $15, and the amenities you get to use are cramped and constantly malfunctioning. Not to mention, (from what Ive read) cancelling is an insane hassle. Conversely, I pay $140 a month for my wife and I, the gyms are huge, the auburn location has like 8 basketball courts/volleyball courts, they have saunas, and its incredibly easy to cancel. ALSO, this $140 INCLUDES unlimited classes for Brazilian jiu jitsu, kickboxing, judo, wrestling, and boxing at every skill level. Most BJJ places charge $120+ for a single membership but fitness quest gives you EVERYTHING. I guess thats why they were voted best in the Northwest. Im not trying to advertise for FQ. I just want to point out that these two gyms of comparable size, locations, and accessibility, offer vastly different experiences at insanely different price points. 425 Redmond didnt even offer reduced rates during their 4 month remodel. They limited access to bathrooms and showers, no access to saunas and had the nerve to charge the same $120. I understand that King County is a wealthy area, and the reality is, there arent many quality gyms. East side is good for the price but there are no amenities and its small. I cant speak for the others. But its clear theyre taking advantage of a fairly small market in a wealthy area that allows them to price gouge and treat their members however they want, because they know theyre one of very limited options. 425 is clean, and it has a lot of amenities, and the equipment is nice. But if there were any other options for a large gym space with a sauna, that was even slightly cheaper, I would happily cancel and switch. I love the quality of the gym, but the profit drive is insane. I would relish in the day that Fitness Quest opens a King County location just to watch the mass exodus. Im not just trying to leave a nasty review. If you dont plan on swimming or going to a bunch of group classes, dont join this gym if it creates any kind of financial strain. Theyve hiked the prices before and Im sure theyll do it again.
