Northern Lights Apartments

I've lived here a long time and have had an overall positive experience. The rent is high now, but it is pretty competitive for the area, so I can't complain too much about that. I have convenient access to everything I need in the area, but it still feels like I am outside of the city. The 112 bus (Community Transit) stops right by the complex on 44th and connects to three local transit centers. Units are nice and well-maintained - there have been a lot of upgrades recently, such as vinyl floors, in-unit washer & dryers, new windows and siding, more/bigger dumpsters, etc which make life easier. As others have mentioned, the parking lot is probably due for some love, but with all the exterior upgrades lately, I am sure it is on the list. Since other reviews mention it I will say, crime has gone up in Mountlake Terrace in general, as it has everywhere along I-5. I feel safer walking around MLT than most places, though. For their part, over the years Northern Lights has taken measures to help address what they can proactively, such as better parking lot lighting, thinning out foliage, repairing and adding fencing, etc. I don't understand the Andrea-hate in a few of the comments. The front office and maintenance have always been very responsive, kind, and helpful any time I've had a question or issue. Everyone in the front office is great. Management can be direct if someone is doing something they shouldn't and the situation calls for it, but that is not the same as being rude or malicious. I have always found everyone here to be very reasonable and willing to work with tenants when there's an issue. I have dealt with management at other apartment companies, and I can tell you the management here is top notch.

EDIT: 9/5/23 Still love this place! Rent increased a bit, but still a good price considering utilities are covered. The entire complex has been renovated as well. Its nice to see the money we put down actually go towards the maintenance of the community! Lived here for around 5 years now and we plan on staying for longer :))Lived here for a year now, and its one of the best complexes Ive ever lived in. Apartment staff is always so helpful and nice, they helped me right away when I had a few problems in my apartment. Got help out as soon as possible. The grounds are really nice and well kept. Neighbors are quiet but do smoke pretty often so sometimes the smell can leak inside. Nothing a fan cant fix. Ive had major bug problems at all my other apartments and am happy to say weve only got the occasional spiderwoohoo! Overall I really look forward to staying here as long as possible. Highly recommend!

There is construction going on here and there for over a year now, very noisy even for neighborhood communities, renters just want a quiet place but bad management doesn't care at all.

I lived here for years. The whole driveway through is horrendous and it is never salted properly in the winter so your car could be stuck in a spot for days when it snows. Old appliances and out dated kitchen, bathroom and bedroom amenities, although they are renovating. Club house amenities and the laundry rooms are lacking. The leasing staff are super nice but not the maintenance so much. Honestly, for what you are asked to pay...its just not worth it when other similarly priced complexes offer much more.

Been here for 5 years and it was a really smooth experience. The management is very helpful and easy to reach. Definitely would recommend this place!
