This business provides good pet care, however I give 2 stars to highlight a practice from this business that isn't consumer friendly and that you may care about. Their $25 no show/late cancelation fee policy is the wrong solution to a problem they can't seem to solve and it's alienating customers like me. To penalize established customers for choosing to support your business in these tough economic times seems to go unappreciated. There's isn't even one-time forgiveness. Don't pre-schedule return visits too far in advance when they ask if you live a normal life with time constraints, have lots going and occasionally get behind.

Dr Austin, you failed Bentley, our 17y.o. 5 lb, pikachu, and our family more than words can say! No animal/family should ever have to go thru what we did! To have our sweet little guy crying in pain for the last 20 minutes of his precious life because of your decision to insert a cath (rather than a double anesthesia dose), then for it to fail, then to have the tech come in and squeeze his other leg while he's still crying and withering in pain, all while you struggle to inject w/o a cath? Then when my husband asks how could this go so wrong, for you to respond "Excuse me? You brought him in already incapacitated!" No! He was not! He was quiet and snoozy when we brought him in, as he had been all weekend. After a Sumner ER vet diagnosed him with internal bleeding and with so much other stuff against him, we brought him home and spent 2 days making the decision to let him go, spoiling and loving on him. It was the most difficult decision but believed it was best for him, rather than wait for him to deteriorate and suffer. We brought him to you, expecting a peaceful transition over the rainbow as we had experienced at Mission Vet with two other beloved pets over the years. We chose you because it was closer to home and had routine pet care with you before. We trusted you! This was a total disregard for an animal's suffering and a total disrespect to an already grieving family! We have been traumatized beyond measure! My daughter and I don't know how to get through this, with the horrific memory of his last moments, involuntarily flooding our thoughts day and night! Poor little guy did not deserve this kind of ending!!! This was not what I paid you to do! Unacceptable! In response to your response on my review Dr Austin, really? You're going to turn this around on us? Bentley was not "debilitated." He was doing fine till he was taken back for the catheter procedure. We only asked for a little more time to try to calm him after getting the cath, not to have more time with him and you did not leave 4 times. When there was no calming him down and when you came back the second time, we called my husband back in, and said it's time, thinking it would end quickly. You gave the shots but when he continued to cry, you said the cath "malfunctioned," then walked out of the room, not a word about his veins, other options, what's next, only to return with the tech who forcefully held him down to inject thru the other leg. Yes we were upset, but not at all hysterical. I was kissing his ear and telling him I love him, our daughter standing behind me crying, and my 76 year old husband was beside the other tech and you were behind the table. He upsettly asked you how could you make this kind of mistake, our other animals never went through this? A fair enough question considering, yet you take this as a personal berating and couldn't stay professional enough to address our concerns? Had you shown a little compassion at that moment and stayed in the room to have a brief discussion and showed that you cared for what we just went through, I would not had posted this review. I'll always wonder why, if there could be concerns about his veins, did you decide on catheterization in the first place? Our other vets had never used one. Bentlley never stopped crying after that. Why didn't you remove it then, knowing it was no longer a viable option? Why wasn't there even a discussion? Why didn't you simply back off to regroup, discuss a plan B, or simply suggest a reschedule? You can try to justify your actions but he was still walking, eating, and going potty on his own. The reality is that it was your forceful actions that hurt and traumatized our Bentley, not us! We know you have a tough job and you obviously care about animals but this and all your knowledge don't add up to a whole lot when you couldn't show an ounce of compassion, for even a moment, when it was needed the most! Just two quiet words "I'm sorry" and leave us just standing there? Really? And you hope we find peace and closure? How? Need to find forgiveness for you first!
