First Steps CDC

We have been following the CDC guidelines the entire time regarding Covid. This is not something we just picked up again and many of our long standing families here have appreciated about us. The current requirements were and have always been posted not only on our parent information board immediately visible upon entering the building daily but also can be seen while touring our center before choosing to enroll. I apologize you didn’t see these. By chance that’s missed I did have it in our handbook that all weather closure and policy changes will be posted on our private family page. And invited families to please join that page as so many people overlook the physical information board. Where I have posted multiple reminders with time stamps of when I have posted and who has viewed it. These are to keep not only our children enrolled safe, but our staff and families as well. Especially infants and immune compromised people in our first steps community. We didn’t deny care with those symptoms as long as fever free and just had a negative home test done to help limit any outbreaks. As far as over count this is inaccurate nor did you personally bring this to my attention in your original withdraw letter you sent emailed to me. But a sealed letter and handed to staff. In which I then examined our records. We have attendance records and parents are required to sign in and out and all staff signing in and out proving we remain in ratio. The day you’re referring to was not to keep our ratio intact but to help a parent that returned. The child was simply turned around so staff could make sure the child didn’t get overwhelmed and watch for safety reasons while the teacher was helping the parent and child that returned. I informed my licensor about the issues you had with us following the WAC guidelines we are required to follow and your covid related concerns to make sure we followed protocol correctly. Also when ratios were not met during an illness outbreak we closed early for entire week to make sure all staff requirements were met. As far afternoon count we have an employee hired to make sure all counts are met throughout the day if staff are out or count isn’t low at time of shift changes. If staff is not available due to things like a contagious illness outbreak like Covid we have no choice but to adjust our hours and or close. As a small business, like many after Covid we have been trying to remain open safely and prevent closures so our families and staff do not miss employment. We appreciate our families that understand this concern and appreciate the efforts we have in place to keep these illnesses at minimum. I’m sorry you didnt feel we were the right fit for you but we agree we have a wonderful infant teacher. Thank you again for your feedback. Best of luck in any future care

We have enjoyed the privilege of getting to watch your kids grow into wonderful people they are. You have been a wonderful family here at first steps.
