I worked with the midwife team thru my pregnancy and their care was outstanding. They helped deliver my baby this month and I couldnt be more thankful for my experience.

WOW! Rude office staff. I am so sorry to inconvenience the office staff over a simple question on an annual exam. I didn't know where to go after PeaceHealth took over my former clinic (Bellingham Ob/Gyn). I am not a fan of PeaceHealth and their care. I understand Covid-19 has made a huge dent in medical care, but do receptionist(s) have to be so rude? I hear Skagit Regional Clinics are much better and worth the short drive. Peace out, Peace Health.

The new front office staff is unprofessional, misinformed and unhelpful. Ive gone to Peace Health nurse midwives for over 3 years, Ive seen all the midwives at the Cordata South location and all were awesome but now that theyve merged with Bellingham Obgyn and have moved into their Squalicum pkwy location, they must have absorbed the staff from there because the front desk admin told me I needed a referral to have my insurance cover the appointment. I told her that made no sense since Ive been seeing them for 3 years and my insurance insisted they were in network. She very condescendingly explained to me what a primary care physician was (like I dont know) and how I needed a referral from one to see the nurse midwife Ive been seeing for over 3 years. I canceled my appointment as she made it sound like my insurance wouldnt cover it without a referral. I then called my insurance company and it turns out I dont need a referral. The condescending front desk clerk was completely wrong and cost me an appointment at a time when it looks like gyno appointments are going to be hard if not impossible to come by. She was possibly parroting Bellingham Obgyns limitations with that insurer and didnt somehow realize that Peace Health was 100% covered under my health plan. Peace health obgyn needs to educate their front desk staff and have a few talks about customer service. ***Here's the worst thing about this: I spoke with Peace Health's admin and filled out the suggested complaint form they provided me. I even spoke with who I assumed was their office manager. When I came in the next week for my re-scheduled appointment I unfortunately was checked in by the same front desk staff (she was the ONLY ONE THERE & still not answering the ringing-off-the-hook phone). Again, she asked me if I had a referral from my primary care physician as though absolutely no one had spoken with her about how incorrect that is. I informed her that my insurance company told me specifically that that isn't a requirement and that gynecology is considered by law as PRIMARY CARE, meaning no referral needed. After I checked in another patient went to check out and I could overhear her explain that she was paying cash up front and had no insurance and asked what the discount was since it is super common for clinics, doctors offices and hospitals to offer steep discounts to the uninsured. The staffer was complete deer in the headlights. She said she no idea what the patient was talking about. Shocker. Since this person has apparently been living under a rock her whole life, it would be great for Peace Health to train her, but apparently they don't even address complaints and disruptions of care.
