My son has been taking piano from Mary Walby at Discovery Music Academy for 3.5 years and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is an amazing teacher and teaches music, music history, and collaboration and performing. She is adaptable and patient and I have seen her seamlessly turn a restless mrnt into a lesson. He has gained so much from his time with her and it has been nothing but a great experience.

Our experience with Ms. Mary Walby has been wonderful. She is skilled with teaching and guidance in the art of piano. Under her direction our child has gained confidence, technique, and had incredible opportunities to perform and collaborate with peers. The value placed on performance and adjudication has given our child a unique perspective and encouragement of the joyful process of learning and practicing piano. We highly recommend Discovery Music Academy.

I've watched with respect and gratitude as Mary has taught my daughter over the last 4 years. Mary's teaching is grounded in a command of the basics of music, but also in solid knowledge of how kids learn best. She's unfailingly positive and always ready to tackle any challenges the kids face. At the same time, she communicates well with me, and I feel as though she has been a great resource for me and my daughter both. She deserves all the credit for teaching my daughter how to learn music, and how to play with and for others with confidence and poise.

I have difficulty learning and am easily distracted and frustrated. So more than most, the teacher matters. On that note, I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful a piano and music instructor, and whats more, what a wonderful person Mary is. Shes patient, positive, and encouraging. She sees you without judgement and nurtures your talent while creating a safe space for the student to make mistakes and not feel guilty. She not only makes music fun, she makes LEARNING a rewarding journey of self-improvement. Im almost thirty years old and Ill be the first to say youre never too old (or young!) to learn what you love. Mary truly helps her students discover music with her profound understanding of the subject, extraordinary sense of fun and adventure, and compassion. You couldnt ask for a better instructor and as soon as you meet Mary, youll know exactly what Im talking about.
