My suggestion is to not use this counselor for couples therapy! She allowed us to fight and offered no guidance, redirection, time out or resolution to it. Just sat back and watched e drama. At the end of session, she did nothing to deescalate it and out us in a safe place. Basically just said we need to work on trust (we know that). However, due to the hostility in the session it carried over to after. Not a safe place to be in. The therapist should have redirected and reminded to not carry over what happens inside a safe place to the outside to continue e the fighting. Feel violated from the whole experience.

Been seeing Dr. Joanne Jones for a little while now and it has helped me immensely. I have seen a lot of personal growth in the last few months.

At the recommendations of people I trust, I decided to seek therapy. I didn't really know anything about therapy, but am open minded enough to try it out. In our first session, Joanne asked me what I wanted to do, and I told her that I didn't know since I was unfamiliar with the practice of therapy and hoped that she would have some ideas. I ended up just talking a lot during that session. The second session basically had lots of long, awkward silences. She occasionally asked questions like "how's your dog, you two having fun?". It felt more like awkward small talk with a stranger than medical treatment. I told her that, even though I didn't have specific objectives, I wouldn't continue treatment if it was basically just amounting to this sort of "nice weather we're having" talk. After this second session, Joanne fired me as a client. I wish I could say I was shocked, but based on her lack of direction, compassion, or enthusiasm, it's hardly a surprise. To be honest, I exposed some deeply held insecurities and secrets to this person, who did absolutely no "counseling". In fact, I've walked away from the whole experience feeling more sore and bruised than before. This careless and unprofessional approach is unacceptable for a medical provider.
