image I first came to tax alternatives when i needed help with my own real estate development business in 2015. Before that time i would file my own taxes through turbo tax. Anne marie is honest stays up to date on the latest tax laws, keeps my books clean and has been guiding me to get the most out of my taxes. My only regret is not working with tax alternatives sooner. Anne marie your the best :)

image Wanted to update: these tax people wanted the review changed and wanted to convince us the irs letter we received was a hoax. It was not and our new tax person found additional mistakes on the tax return. If we hadn't moved, we already knew we would not be using them again. Worst freaking tax people ever!!!! First we work with a lady who screwed up our initial returnand we caught her thousand dollar mistake and made her fix it. A year later we are getting information from the irs saying that there is a 9000k mistake she made AFTER SHE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT!!!!! We took our return to our new tax person and she found a ton of mistakes. Avoid these people at all costs!!!!

image I have to say that at first, I was really excited about this company. I came in a year ago because of a military issue to where I had gotten backpay and it was not supposed to have been taxed. Now to others who understand how difficult it can be with military and veteran issues alone, I appreciated the time that the lady took to review and find out what was the issue to my concern. Last year, I didn't file my taxes for several reasons: I had been diagnosed with a rare condition that had been in remission for years that complicated the already pre-existing conditions that I have from my service. Then, I was unable to work, and tragically my father had passed away out of state. Not to mention 4 others had passed, my mother had a stroke, and two aunts had major health conditions all within the first 6 months of the year. I came into this office in early February requesting to have my taxes done for 2018 and 2019. I brought all of my forms in and informed the preparer, Ann I believe that I had began to file my taxes on turbotax in for 2018 however did not complete it. I had to retrieve it and was told that I would have to mail it. I wanted to see if I could file them both electronically. I was told that this could be done... by Ann. I was also told since I was going to be out of town taking care of things for my new home, that I could drop off my paperwork and everything would be prepared for me when I arrived for my scheduled time on 2/27/2020. So, I dropped off my paperwork prior. I sat down with Ann and we went through everything 2018 and 2019. I paid for my services and I waited about 14 days before I got concerned. Then at the 21st day, I contacted the IRS to find out what has happened to my refund. I was told that my 2018 taxes were never filed so my refund was frozen until they receive it. I was confused at this point and was given another number to call by the IRS rep for more information to get ahead of this. While I was on an hour hold waiting, I contacted this office and was forwarded to Ann. She said that the window for the 2018 tax return had not been open yet to the IRS and I was not the only one that it had been rejected. She put me on hold to run it again... and said that it was rejected again. I told her that I would ask the IRS when the window would be open since I was on hold. When I was able to speak with someone, I was told that there was no block from the IRS system for receiving electronic returns. I further found out that most tax places cannot file previous year's tax returns electronically. It must be mailed or faxed in. Now I am upset. I called Ann back to find out what had happened and the first thing that she does is get on the defensive. She says that someone must have prepared them because it was on a turbotax form and not on theirs. I explained again why I had the form and was trying not to raise my voice by her dismissive attitude towards me. Then to make it worse, she offered to do it for an additional $150.00. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't like being taken advantage of by anyone. I have been through too much crap in such little time. Being 40 years old and disabled sucks, but for someone to extort your pain and misfortunes is a low that I cannot and will not take from anyone. I have to fight the IRS now for my tax return that she could have simply said that I needed to mail, or given me the option of having them mail or fax if they had the capacity to be honest with me. I am disappointed, hurt, and with this whole Coronavirus situation, my family would have had this money in savings at the very least and this company put us at risk. Thank you for nothing and I will never have your services again or refer this company to anyone. Especially military or veteran families like myself.

image Since moving to the area, we've been searching for a reputable and reliable tax service that would be able to help us with our many tax-related changes over the year. We wanted a service that would be easily reachable, especially after tax season, if we ever had questions we needed answered promptly. I was also looking for a service that offered business tax services as I had just opened my photography business this year. We took a chance with Tax Alternatives and very glad we did. They checked off everything we were looking for. I initially sent a message on Yelp and was responded to right away, which is super important in a tax preparer. We wanted to have one that would be easily and readily reached whenever we needed help or had questions. For our appointment, we met with Connie. She was so friendly and efficient. She really knew her stuff. Every question we had, Connie would help clarify and go one step further by providing more information that we otherwise wouldn't have thought to ask. She was very thorough! Thank you!

image Were it not for its prices, which are a little high, I would award five stars to Tax Alternatives. Their employees are impeccably efficient, thorough, and courteous. They take every step to try to save you as much money as possible. They have gained a repeat customer for the future. I would highly recommend their services.
