Have carried State Farm (SF) Insurance for almost 50 years-- home, autos, rentals, umbrella. Very few minor claims over that entire period-- broken windshield, bent fender, tree dropped on fence during storm, that sort of thing. All was good-- until some puke stole the catalytic converters from under my truck. State Farm's "claims department" clearly doesn't know what it's doing-- at all. A month after I brought the truck into the shop (local Toyota dealership) it's still there. Why? Because State Farm hasn't yet completely paid my zero deductible claim. First, SF lowballed their repair estimate without ever physically inspecting the damage; Second, SF specified aftermarket parts, which the shop could not make to fit or work; Third, SF could not tell me where I should take my truck for the MECHANICAL repair at the price SF was willing to pay. SF offered up a list of BODY SHOPS instead. Really? Yes really; Fourth, SF variously claims they mailed or electronically transferred-- without prior notice to anyone-- funds to the dealership.The Toyota dealer says they never received ANY funds from SF. Who to believe? At this point, no one! Latest: SF says they mailed ME a check on March 8th for the balance owed. The mailman has come and gone today (Monday, March 18th)-- no check. Must be coming from Zimbabwe. I can't say that any of this is agent Kyle's fault, but it certainly should be his problem and not just mine. I'm not a SF agent. As a SF customer I'm in no position to fix any of this. Apparently my job is to keep paying premiums, not make any claims and never complain. Right. No complaints here. FYI: "What do local State Farm agents do? Local State Farm agents represent the insurance company and serve as liaisons between State Farm and its policyholders. *** State Farm agents assist clients throughout the claims process in addition to selling insurance policies, and collaborate with the insurance companies to reach a fair and timely resolution." Would be nice if that were true. Unfortunately, in this case it's not.
