Steel Lake Plaza apartment is old, but it's a pricey place to live. The exterior of the building looks nice, but some of the interior items are aging (kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and washers and dryers). The parking is horrible, cars and mailboxes get broken into regularly, and people live there illegally. In addition, water pressure is controlled/ reduced by management, so the water doesn't flow as much as needed for the shower, dishwashing, etc. Plus, silverfish are the original residents. NO PARKING ZONES Parking has always been an issue, but not as bad as it is (now). Previous Property Managers DO NOT allow residents to park in the No Parking zones during business hours or for an extended period during the day or on weekends. They tow away cars parked in the no-parking zone if it's parked there for an extended period. I hope the new property manager follows this trend. MAILBOXES Mailboxes usually get broken into 2-3 times a year. So far, the intruder, a white male around 50 years old, has broken into these mailboxes 3-4 times in two months. The worst we have ever seen. EXTRA PEOPLE LIVING IN THE UNIT Furthermore, some residents rent a unit for one person, and they bring friends to live with them so they can split the bill. We are talking about a one-bedroom unit with 4+ people living in it. The property manager does not check, verify, or monitor the amount of people living in each unit. I know it's a lot of work for a manager. The residents make key copies of the main entry door and distribute them to their visitors and friends who live there illegally. Illegally means folks who arent on the lease. HOMELESS Homelessness was a problem before the locks were on the main entry door to each building. They used to sleep on the landing and under the stairs. Make sure your main entrance door is closed at night. Otherwise, you'll be surprised as you open your door and head out to work in the morning. Additional Info: The New Property Manager will try to enforce the parking rules for the first couple of weeks, and then it will fall apart. Residents at Steel Lake Plaza know this too well. The only way for the property manager to enforce the RULES on the LEASE is to live onsite and monitor it regularly. Many managers have failed since they arent allowed to live onsite anymore. That's my honest review. If you read the review this far, please give it a Thumbs up. Thank you.

I would like to leave positive feedback for a new property manager at Steel Lake Plaza. Ms.Lisa Barringer brought many positive changes to the condition and management of the apartment complex. The property and the grounds became clean, there is no garbage anymore outside of the garbage dumpsters and the fenced are around dumpsters. When the maintenance man for whatever reason is not on the property, I saw Ms. Lisa Barringer working on cleaning around the dumpsters. After she became a manager, the light at the mailboxes finally became fixed, which did not work for many months. She makes sure that the assigned parkings are property used, and she provided parking stickers for every car which can park on assigned spots.
