This Dr doesn't deserve a star! I called to make an appointment for a child, which they told me they see. As our appointment came, the dr was 20 mins late. He was reviewing the single piece of paper that I filled out for my child. He then turned to me me and said "where does it hurt?" No where on the paper work did I mention pain. I said my child is here for two reason I listed on the paper. Bumps and red mark. He then pulled out a very scratched up $.99 plastic magnifier, stands about 12 inches away. Then pulls it away to look with his 80 year old something eyes. Says hmmm a bunch and tells me to "watch it!" "For what?" I said. "It could be some virus" he said, " don't worry" shakes my hand and out the door! And that was the appointment! A big waste of time and money!

I called this place to try to get a consultation. I told them that I was going to be paying out of pocket. She asked what type of insurance I had, i told her i had medicare she then said " I'm sorry but we can't see you because you have medicare" . I told her i know that's why i'll be paying out of pocket. She then said" I know but we still can't can see you because you have medicare and medicare people gets funding from the federal government and blah blah". This people will discriminate you only b/c of your social status.I wasn't even planning to use medicaid; my intentions were to pay everything out of pocket. I'm so glad i didn't give this people not a dime from my pockets.This was such an ugly experience for a potential new patient; I could only imagine being a patient there. Don't come to this practice, go somewhere else where you can be treated equally and with respect.

Made a first-time appointment with Dr. Swan in which I believe I was asked about insurance over the phone and told them that my daughter was covered by my primary insurance, United Healthcare Choice Plus and Medicaid. Told that was fine. Waited two weeks for initial appointment. Went in and the front staff was rude saying that they could not see her at ALL as they don't accept Medicaid patients. What about seeing her with just her primary insurance, I asked? (Other doctors have done so) Told no that it was legally possible to do so. So they wouldn't see her at all. I later called DMAS (Department of Medical Assistance Services for Virginia) and told that there WASN'T ANY LEGAL REASON they could see for Dr. Swan's office to refuse to see her other than if they have decided to not to accept any patients that have Medicaid as a secondary form of insurance (as any doctor can turn down patients of course but this was first for me as they've always taken her primary insurance!). In any case, I don't want to work with a doctor's office that treats first-time patients like this -- perhaps your experience may vary but I was enough concerned about this to write this review.What I fail to understand is why they turned down seeing her when her primary form of insurance is a good one. Lastly, when we arrived, there really wasn't anywhere to sit down as the lobby is quite small and several other patients were still waiting.
