Canoe Run Park

Cool park in the neighborhood. Gravel loop for running or walking or skipping. The name is confusing though. How does this park have anything to do with canoes? If you brought a canoe here, you would have to climb down probably over 100 vertical feet of trail and stairs to get to enough water to float a canoe. Better names may be 22nd Street Overlook Park, Semmes Park, RFD Station 17 Park, Parent's Park, or Valero Park. If the river is low and you are driving around with a canoe, try Reedy Creek access just west on Riverside Drive or cruise on across the river and put in at the boat ramp at 415 Tredegar Street.

Edit: Always busy, but still room to social distance, enjoyed visiting again even in cold last week. Original: We have not been here since beginning of pandemic it was the only park we found we could social distance and have room to run. Also the exercise equipment to and from car is always fun! Our special needs son enjoys the run. Playground: Playground is well spaced plenty of room to roam. No gate to close it off, so I gotta stay inside of it to keep child from roaming. No running allowed inside of it, but plenty of space outside in field and gravel track. Dog-friendliness: Always see dogs here and there is a dog waste canister and trash can outside of the play ground.

Best RC Rock Crawling spot in Richmond. Dog Friendly with a picnic area.
