Dr Oh is not a stroke specialist and cannot deal with patients with a complicated medical history effectively. I've had several appointments with him and my first appointment was okay but I felt like after that he was not listening to anything that I was saying to him. Not only was he unable to explain a large lesion in my brain that as he put it I don't know what it is. How can a neurologist say from an MRI I don't know what this illusion is yet after I see him a few months later I have another stroke and this physician was able to tell me that it was a previous stroke and so I'm now on stroke number 3. With left-sided weakness and I complained about numerous issues with my left side being numb and having spells of numbness down my body to doctor Oh on every one of my visits yet they were discounted like he was not listening to what I was saying to him. I was already on aspirin I should have been put on Plavix then instead of after having three Strokes in the amount of 2 years for someone who is under the age of 44. I don't like it when doctors tell me looking at a scan the day don't know what that lesion it is but another physician can immediately tell. Not only was the severe stenosis at the origin of the ICA segment ignored but that is what first and caused my third stroke. I asked if anything to be stented are fixed and I kept getting the answer no. I felt like I was not listen to and that is why I will not go back. Not to mention the staff are especially rude not only in the waiting area but the nurses as well. If your appointment is that 3:30 the net is when you should be saying not an hour later. my time is precious as well as yours. I felt like I got no help at all. My third stroke could have been avoided altogether but given the fact that I was not told I had small vessel disease until I went to an HCA facility is unacceptable. Nobody's brain changes that much in the amount of 2 years at my age. Now I am stuck with being homebound and more difficulties. Not happy as I document everything.

This doctor treated me like an animal. He was angry during an exam and hurt my knee. He left me to suffer.

The absolute best neurologist hands down! He is a brilliant and compassionate man and extremely thorough. I drive 1 1/2+ hrs to see him even though I hate Richmond. I've had a handful of neurologists over the years and have to say that it seems rather difficult to find someone that is competent and unbiased about medications & treatments. Being seen at an actual MS clinic by someone that is actually very knowledgeable about the subject makes me so much more comfortable. And since it is at VCU they do not see a bunch of drug reps and take "sides" of particular pharmaceutical companies. MS is far too random and difficult to not look at the full picture of treatments available.

I went to Dr Oh and all he seemed to care about was what it was like for me 30-35 years ago. When I asked him for help with current issues like spasming or weakness, he shrugged and went back to my history. He did not offer me one thing to help fight the current symptoms. He did not care about whether I was working and did not help me to do it better. I did not feel like a human being but like a subject. I was sorely disappointed.
