If you want to learn about how hard mining is and was, this is the museum to visit. Its a moment in time that left me overwhelmed with respect for the miners and sadness for their lives. Hard lives that included the death of children due to mining accidents. Low pay and hard times but the miners kept our country running during two world wars. If you get a chance visit this museum and take the tour you will not forget it

The tour guide was amazing & super friendly, and so were the gift shop / historical archive ladies. They recommend bringing and I could see why; it got very chilly in the mine!

In addition to being able to delve into the mine itself, there is this very informative museum with lots of old mining gear and information about the history of the mine. If you are in the area, this is certainly worth a stop, especially if you are unfamiliar with the subject. The tours are great, and the guides are very friendly and knowledgeable about all things to do with mining.
