Holiday Inn Express & Suites Norfolk Airport, an IHG Hotel

Ive been a Hilton homers member for years. I arrived in Norfolk last night around 2am and couldnt get a Hilton anywhere despite seeing available rooms available online. I booked the holiday inn and to make a long story short after two hours of searching for a hotel they got me booked at 4am for the following day. I cant thank the gentleman who helped me enough. Not to mention the hotel is beautiful. Its super clean and modern. The guest services are unreal. I didnt try the breakfast this morning but I will tomorrow I smelt it leaving earlier. Anyways do not hesitate, book here. Ill be back!!!!

They will cancel your reservation if THEY have issues figuring out how to run your credit card. They will NOT contact you when they screw it up... or at least that is the excuse they will give you when they leave you without a room. We are IHG members and have wonderful service at so many IHG locations. This place is managed and operated by complete morons! Stay at the Candlewood, Staybridge or the Holiday Inn VA Beach - (where we ended up staying with the same credit card)before you book a stay at this place.

Before I leave a bad review, I first wanna start by saying the staff we encountered here were super sweet especially the night auditor girl (please give her a raise lol) so this is by no means a reflection of them. However, my family and I were super disappointed with our room situation. For context, we came into town for a funeral and when my mom booked the hotel rooms she called and told the guy that we would be a late arrival as it was going to be a 10 hour drive in addition to traffic. He assured her it was okay but she called again TWICE on the way there and both times the people who answered the phone reassured her it was okay. However, when we arrived a little after midnight, we were notified that they gave our rooms away and wed have to take whatever was available. We felt deceived as she was told now THREE times we could check in late just for them to give our rooms away. I also know as someone whos worked at a hotel that you have UNTIL the night audit is ran to release or give away rooms but whatever, it was already a long day for us so it was what it was. We just wanted to check in, shower and go to sleep. Upon entering our room, it had a very strong stench. It was really musty. We tried to make the best of it by spraying perfume but it was not a good first impression. It also was not the type of rooms we paid for but once again we were trying to make the best of the situation. There were a few strands of hair in one of the beds but I flicked them off and kept it moving. But the bathroom is what grossed me out the most. The tiles on the shower were dirty, the shower curtain had brown stains on it and it was out of body wash in the dispenser. Ive never felt dirtier after taking a shower. In addition to the bathroom, there was a big brown stain on the couch in our room that looked like period blood, which also grossed us out. Then there was another brown stain on our window curtains. Needless to say, I dont think housekeeping checked the room before it was assigned to us. We stayed for two nights and werent able to switch our room (320) as they were sold out. The complimentary breakfast was nice but the orange juice was brown and had a weird taste. We were not happy with our visit and will not be back in the future.

VERY high-quality hotel near downtown Norfolk. Security is top-notch, and your keycard is required to enter the front door after 10pm. Rooms are fresh and clean, no mildew smell anywhere, and the employees are very upbeat, attentive and hardworking. Theres also a beautiful mermaid statue in the front. Housekeeping staff are very kind and we left a deserved generous tip. Overall amazing hotel, we will definitely be returning!! Rooms: Very clean! Suites are spacious with a desk, TV, couch-bed, and extra seating in the first room. Bathrooms are well-lit and clean, and provided Dove products are very high-quality, especially the hand soap and lotion. Safety: Best hotel security Ive ever seen, especially in a Holiday Inn Express! Food & drinks: Cookout, Tropical Smoothie Caf, and Jimmy Johns right next door!
