This company was great to work with. Bobby did two jobs for me, installing flooring and installing a over the range microwave. His communication was great, and his price was very reasonable. Will use for future projects.

Tidewater Woodcraft (owned by Robert “Bobby” Kolling) operates without both a valid Virginia Business License and appropriate contracting license for any services provided.Bobby provided an in-home visit for an estimate of a single wall bar June 2022. After finalizing our bar design, an estimate was emailed to us on early August 2022. Work was estimated to be completed within 4 weeks. The same day, a deposit for materials was paid. All bar components were to be built in his shop and only installed on-site once fully constructed. Bobby eventually dropped off the first partially completed bar cabinets on late September 2022 (already over 4-week completion date). Bobby stated that the bar components were fully built and just needed to be installed/assembled on-site. This information turned out to be false and Bobby was building, repairing, painting, and installing bar components during many visits to our home. Work was subpar and often incorrect. It was also identified that the estimate, which included purchased material such as drawer fronts and doors from fastcabinetdoors.com, were never made and cheaper materials were used. This was never disclosed and significant quality issues arose with the construction of the door faces during the project. Over the course of the next several months, Bobby consistently missed appointments and completed unacceptable construction. This often caused my husband and I to take off of work to allow him extra time in our home. Bobby’s last in-person visit to complete the bar installation was November 28, 2022. Additional quality issues were discovered that evening and my husband and I composed an email with concerns of new damage to the bar. Because of significant schedule delays and quality issues, we advised Bobby that we would be terminating further work after his last scheduled appointment on December 2, 2022. Mr. Kolling did not show for that appointment and ignored all attempts by us to reach him.My husband and I obtained quotes from several local licensed and insured companies to repair uncompleted work. Each company identified Tidewater Woodcraft’s work as being so bad that it would be more affordable to knock the entire bar down and build it again from scratch. This ended up costing thousands of dollars more than what we already paid Bobby. During tear down of Bobby’s work, we found out that hung cabinets were not secured appropriately to the studs and incorrect mounting hardware was used. In addition, screws were missing from cabinet doors, there were electrical safety hazards from his installation of a new outlet, and an assortment of other craftsman issues that were hidden from plain view.As a result, we contacted an attorney and filed a lawsuit against Mr. Kolling, which we won. Mr. Kolling then became evasive and ignored all attempts for collection. We again had to take him to court. We had several court continuances because his missed court several time because of more “personal issues." Bobby agreed to a payment arrangement for the court judgment and has since defaulted on those payments.Would not recommend his services to anyone.

Summer 2021 I hired this business to do my patio. Unfortunately i didn’t have a great experience. I had mini issues from the beginning. Bobby showed up at the last week of June did not finish my patio until the first week of August. It was a very hot summer, so I very patient with him on how long it was taking. The only problem I had with that was that he came the first day ripped up my patio and then didn’t come back for a week. I have 3 dogs so even though this was extremely inconveniencing, I tried very hard to work with him. When the first week of August came around and he finished, I paid him and he was supposed to return and pick up wood he left in my back yard. He left a pile of wood in my yard with nails for a week after i paid him and i had to contact him multiple times to remove the wood mind you I have three dogs that could have been hurt by these nails. September came around and wood already started popping up when I contacted Bobby about the wood coming up he did return and nail down what wood was already coming up after just one month. He wore flip flops while working with heavy machinery, which was concerning to me, because if he hurt himself, how would that affect me on my property. He missed spots with the paint and when i confronted him he reassured me that he stands behind his work. Yet it’s now almost 2 years later my patio is already started to fall apart. Bobby convinced me to redo my whole entire patio because it was going last me years yet it’s only been 2 years and it’s falling apart already. I did reach out to Bobby and give him many opportunity to work with me to fix these problems even offered to pay more for tools to fix the current issues he either ignored me or told me he will get back to me and yet nothing.
