Mr Harvill has been exceptionally amazing in his work on my case. His sound judgement and advice helped navigate my case without me having to be stressed. He would present his perspective on my case in very simple layman language and help me understand what would be the best route for reaching a resolution. I was referred to Dan by a former employer. Dan is a con man. He offers a low ball retainer to entice you then he does little to no work and pads his fees (i.e. - two charges of $300.00 for hand delivery of documents that could have been mailed or sent by Fed-Ex). He estimated 10 hours of work at $250 per hour so I paid a $2500 retainer. I received my first only bill 4 months later and the charges ballooned to $4200. I had three meetings with him for a total of 4 hours. I had to FIRE him after he failed to subpoena a key witness in my case. Only after he agreed to charge me a flat fee to continue working on my case, I re-hired after I could not afford to another $3000 retainer for a new attorney. My ex continued to violate the court order for 8 months and Dan refused to file a Show Cause order. When it came to the trial, Dan did not think it was not worth his time to depose any of my ex's witnesses or our witnesses. So when we went to court, he was totally unprepared. On two occasions during the trial, he informed me that he ran out of questions to ask my ex and one of her witnesses and if I (his client) had any questions to ask them. He ignored any of the evidence I provided him to impugn the testimony of my ex and her witnesses. His courtroom etiquette and decorum was a clown show and an embarrassment to the profession. Opposing counsel was a pro-bono litigation transactional attorney trying his first trial case. There was no evidence presented at trial other than hearsay. My exs witnesses were therapists, who are currently under investigation for violating their professional ethics. Apparently, the evidence I tried to provide Dan was enough for the Department of Health Professions to investigate them. Be smart and go with a more qualified attorney.
