Paradox Pastry

What a big disappointment. Today my husband, 11 month old daughter and I walked to this shop from the Virginia Discovery Museum, excited to have cappuccinos and some pastry. We arrived around noon, and there was a closed sign on the door. It looks like they are shut down. In speaking to others, the word is that Paradox is no longer going to do retail business. They didn't bother to update their website. Tonight I called the phone number on their website, curious to see if there's a message about their hours, or if they are no longer doing retail business. After many rings, an automated message with a static noise in the background said "please enter your remote access code." It is not the way to run a business.

The staff was very friendly. Coffee was good but the food .. I had a spinach cheese quiche which was given to me lukewarm and asked to have it warmed up, which they did. My granddaughter had a chocolate croissant which was very cold and had very little chocolate in it. The pumpkin cheesecake crust was very dry and falling apart. The apple turnover tasted more like thick applesauce. The other food was just ok. (we had a party of 6) My son commented that this place use to be very good but something has definitely changed. (And not for the better) maybe it was just an off day.

Breakfast croissant, blueberry tart and coffee with heavy cream. Decadent and delicious!
