I wrote a five-star review back in 2016. But now, I need to rescind the 5 stars I gave then. He has been the only mechanic who has worked on my car since 2013. I need to revise my review because I found that he had 1) tightened a brake bleed valve with an impact wrench or something. It was cross-threaded and was not able to be loosened with a wrench. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and had him replace it, at my cost. He should have covered the cost as it was he who had installed the brake caliper just 5 months before. 2) He lost the low-pressure side cap for the AC when he charged it, causing a series of AC debugging charges that should have not happened. 3) He replaced a fuel sending unit. After I had him put in a new fuel sending unit, I discovered that this item was under Nissan recall so I went to the dealer to have it replaced with the OEM part, only to find he botched the previous install and cross threaded the mounting bolts. See attached photo. In that photo, you can clearly see that two of the mounting bolts weren't even screwed in all the way. The technician at Nissan couldn't pry it loose with anti-seizing compound and advised me to go to Ronnies to get some money back. The bolts will need to be cut off and drilled.I thought it would be fair to give him an opportunity to fix the cross-threaded mounting bolts. He didn't even discuss or give a good explanation about why the bolts weren't installed correctly. Rather, he got very upset and walked out of the shop and told me to never come back on his way out.He also marks up the parts you buy from him by 100%. At that price, you might as well go to the dealer and get OEM parts. So, in summary, I would always find small things that he didn't do that came back to cause more money to be spent. If you want things done 90%, he is the one for you. For most things, that is enough. But if you want someone to do due diligence, he is not the one for you. Also, he doesn't keep electronic records about what has been done to your vehicle. No computers. So you can't ask him questions like "Did you replace the spark plugs around 100k?" These days, electronic records of services is standard at pretty much any reputable garage. That's why I'm going have my car fixed at Colonial Nissan from now on.
