Montessori Academy at Belmont Greene

We were unfamiliar with the Montessori principles when we first enrolled our daughter at MAB, but having had two children at MAB for a combined six years, we are believers in the process and the qualities it teaches, but more importantly, we are believers in this Montessori school. The teachers at MAB have proven themselves to be professional, caring, and dedicated to the kids. Likewise, the administration is committed to always working towards the enrichment and development of the children and working with parents to identify and resolve whatever issues may come up. Our kids have thrived at MAB and we have treasured our experiences there and the friendships we, too, have developed.

This place is fantastic!!! I literally can't say enough good things about the faculty, staff, and the school in general. Our daughter has been attending MAB since 2018 at 16 months old, and we knew it was the school for her and for us after spending just five minutes on the tour with Bart Theriot. Our daughter, who at the time was usually shy in new places, immediately dove right in. It was like watching a fish go into water. Since then, we have adored all her teachers as she's matured. They have partnered with us throughout in helping our daughter develop herself, giving us different methods and guidance for how to allow our daughter to be her best during these early years, which can be quite trying to say the least! As a parent, it's been very comforting to have MAB as a support system for our daughter's growth and our family's well-being. As for COVID, they have done a phenomenal job in unbelievably difficult circumstances. They only closed for the Spring of 2020 and re-opened that Summer with safety precautions in place to ensure the health of the students and faculty. While we were hesitant at first to have our daughter back in a group environment, we could already see the negative impact not having school was having on her. So, we sent her that Summer and are so happy we did! As the pandemic has evolved so has MAB, updating their policies and procedures as necessary following the VDH's health guidance, while making thoughtful, informed decisions about what makes sense for the school, its students, and families. There have been very few COVID cases, thank goodness!, even through this massive Omicron waive. Our daughter has met some wonderful classmates too that have become good friends. We're looking forward to many more great times and experiences with MAB!

Our family would like to show our gratitude for the teachers and staff of MAB. Each of our three kids went through their program and we quickly learned that each has a different personality and approach to learning. Our only regret was not keeping them there longer! What they all received from MAB was an appetite for learning, and an ability to interact with students of different abilities and teachers alike. The faculty provides an environment that fosters kindness and compassion, coupled with creating endless opportunities for growth. Throughout each of their journeys, our kids have taken the many skills learned at MAB and have successfully applied them as they grow to become independent and confident individuals.

The teachers are amazing and caring. Our daughter graduated from Lower Elementary. We are glad we found this school. I cannot say enough about the teachers they make all the difference. Our daughter is an exceptional reader and writer.

I feel very strongly that MAB helped both of our girls to become good people and world citizens. I think that enrolling them at MAB was one of the best parenting choices we made and I would make it over again a thousand times. One of my favorite stories was that Heather was in 1st grade and there was a mother's day celebration. When we mothers arrived, the stuff wasn't ready. The kids asked us to wait in the hall and the teacher told us that they had been so interested in the circle time topic that they had gone long and not gotten it done. It's so important to me that they put the kids curiosity and learning ahead of setting up for a celebration.
