This poison control center provided outstanding service. During a botched repair early on a Sunday morning I accidentally spilled Gorilla superglue on my hand and called this number a moment later. The wonderful woman who picked up right away told me exactly what I needed to dorepeated soakings with soapy water and cooking oil to get it off. She picked up immediately when I called back with a follow up question. Im grateful that there are such helpful institutions and people like these when theres an emergency situation.

They answered right away at 6am. My 12 year-old son swallowed 2 cherry pits and I did not think much of it. Then, I remembered from a TV show that they could be poisonous - especially if crushed. Luckily, swallowing only 2 was not an issue!

I am 69 by mistake I medicine instead of regular pills. They answer my questions and were very help. Thank you so much.

My son, who is almost 17 months old, unfortunately got a hold of a pack of cascade detergent pod and bit into it. I called his doctor first who directed me to call poison control, which I didnt think about doing since I have never gone through this before! I call their number and I kid you not am on hold waiting for a person to answer for 30 minutes!! 30 minutes!! My god! Thank god my son didnt ingest more than he did or he would have been dead by the time I talked to someone. During the 30 minutes time frame I got disconnected twice and had to call back. My mother came over and we used her phone, while I was still waiting for an answer from poison control, to call 911 and ask them what we should do. The 911 operated 3way called poison control to see if she could get an answer and still no answer! We were about to take him to the emergency room when my mother had the bright idea to try and call poison control in North Carolina. They answered within seconds. The North Carolina poison control reassured me that if my son was eating and drinking and it had been over 30 mins than he is ok but to still keep an eye on him. Finally after almost 30 minutes someone from VA poison control finally answered my call after I finish my call to the North Carolina poison control center . I told her WOW you guys must be busy because Ive been waiting for 30 mins for an answer she replies that the phone just rang on her end.....I dont see how that is possible unless all their lines were down because two other people were calling besides myself, one being 911, and not one of us could get ahold of you. I am truly disgusted with your call center. There should be more than one number to reach you guys if you are not going to answer. I wasnt even technically suppose to call North Carolina poison control since I live in Virginia but Im so thankful the lady helped me from there because I didnt know what else to do.
