I'm updating my review from 1 star to 3 after seeing Dr. Vo. He seems like a really good doctor - he apologized for the mishaps and listened to my concerns. It is clear he has great knowledge and bedside manner. That said, I'm still going to have to work late to make up for the 50 minutes I spent dealing with the incompetent staff before I got to see him. ________ I havent even seen dr Vo yet and Im 45 minutes into this appointment. This is because the admin staff member could not find my insurance account. I had to call my insurance company for them. Why? It turned out they put in my husbands name and my date of birth. Is this some kind of joke? If you do insurance at a doctors office, would you be well versed in this kind of stuff? I have never had this problem before. The level of incompetence is astounding. When the nurse checked me in, she asked if I had any concerns besides a physical. I said I had some trouble sleeping. She told me I needed to do a separate visit for that. So I cant ask a question about my sleep at a physical appointment??? Im so done. Will definitely do my physical at another office next time. If I ever get out of here. Like I said, Ive been waiting for 45 minutes.

Dr. Bao is a really nice guy, seems competent and knowledgeable, but his office administration and billing is a disaster. That's why I'm leaving. I scheduled an appointment for a physical and mentioned that I wanted to talk about some persistent knee/ankle pain from a prior injury. The office admin insisted this would be two separate appointments (even though it was all in the same time slot) and made me fill out a form to that effect. When I mentioned this to Dr. Bao, he said he had nothing to do with the billing. My insurance was billed for two separate appointments and obviously balked at the overcharge. Over a year later, after my insurance company has continually to kick the charge back to Dr. Bao's office, I finally received a bill. When I contacted the office to say I wanted it written off, I heard nothing back. I had to follow up a week later. The office now claim they cannot write it off (despite Innova telling me they can) as it's from over a year ago. But I was just billed recently. May I claim the "but it was over a year ago" defense too? As if that wasn't enough, when I called to follow up on some referrals that hadn't been done in over a month, I was scheduled for a telemed appointment. This consisted of a 10 min video chat for which my insurance was billed over $200. When I called to note that this should have just been a phone call, not a full on visit, the office said, we're sorry, but we did it as a visit so that's billed out the same. It's really too bad, because I liked Dr. Bao, but the overbilling, illogical excuses for mistakes, and slow response time to inquiries are really going to ruin his reputation.
