Okay this was a little difficult mainly because as nice as this place is there was no fridge or microwave anywhere, I know that sounds kinda petty but imagine having food that you can't preserve especially with how much the room was, the staff was nice but the parking especially for just valet was really expensive overall it was decent but probably wouldn't stay there again

4.3. That's the standard for hotels in Alexandria it seems, however, when there's a chance to go low, I tend to go high. I wish I could go 5, and I almost did. If you're attending a convention across the river, consider this hotel. The short distance, great price, and nice staff made it worth it for me. Even if not, there is no shortage of competition. Let me tell you the things I liked about this place Pros: Great smelling lobby. I enjoy the fragrance that they use. Lobby staff were also awesome the entire stay, enjoyed the customer service of each of them! Free WiFi and incredibly fast for the area. No login screen required. They use Comcast Business which is great and it seems like nothing is throttled. Of the hotels in Alexandria, it is among the fastest speeds I've seen. Proximity to the metro, and lack of noise are also a big draw. I had incredibly quiet nights and plenty of shut eye. The curtains are blackout which is awesome. Even in harsh winter weather, you don't have to endure it for more than five or six minutes before you're at the station. Beats walking a mile inland or taking a trolley to get to the Alexandrian. If you like the Spa (the hotel does, it's why they have it in their name), you might also like this hotel. Cons: No complimentary in-room tea or coffee. They did have coffee available during morning hours in the lobby, courtesy of the eatery next door, but past 12pm I didn't see any carafe. Everything about the room was clean except for the bathroom. The hotel seat had dried urine. Gross! Hopefully they can fix this for next time. This hotel has decided to go the green route and does not offer travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. This is probably a good thing since it cuts waste and pollution, but frequent travelers might miss the amenity. Also, the shower did this very weird thing with the hot water where it'll be hot, then cold, then hot again. It also rapidly fluctuates temperature if you change the temperature. No wand, either, which is unusual for a 4-star hotel. The threshold crossing the shower and bathroom was super thin, so if you step on the grate, you may unintentionally flood the bathroom. My request for a late checkout was honored, but I was charged a full day's + tax incidental hold for the modification in addition to the $249 incidental hold they already placed. No big deal - both charges dropped off my credit card within five days of checkout. Housekeeping staff wasn't aware of my modification and still knocked at my door at 12:30pm. Would I still stay at this hotel? Absolutely, just keep in mind things may be a little more limited until society can get COVID under control.

Our stay was subpar. I contacted the front desk on our initial arrival day to advise of flight cancellation, but this update was not made and created a challenge at checkin. Information was not provided at checkin regarding the cleaning schedule for the room. Over the course of 4 nights, the room was not serviced at all (a later staff member indicated they service rooms every 3 nights), and we had to call multiple times to receive basics such as toilet paper. Quality of the room was a disappointment (I booked this when it was still a Kimpton Hotel although it is no longer affiliated with that brand)- threadbare comforter I could see through, thin towels with stains from previous guest's eyeliner, and concrete table in the guest room with dangerously jagged edges. I reported that the shower did not hold a steady temperature, was advised that someone would address it that day, but never received a follow up. I assume no one came to inspect as the issue persisted throughout the rest of my stay. Saturday night, we attempted to eat at the hotel restaurant, advertised in multiple places to be open until 10pm. We arrived at 9pm and were informed that although nothing had been communicated, the restaurant now closed at 9pm, and were not offered suggestions for an alternative.

About
Lorien Hotel & Spa

Here at the Lorien Hotel & Spa, we’re always in a Saturday state of mind. We understand that life is a balance of work and play, productivity and pampering, revving up and slowing down. Our proximity to Washington, DC, means that guests can easily access the capital buzz, but our status as the only hotel and spa in Alexandria defines us as a coveted urban retreat. In addition to a tantalizing menu of treatments at our soothing hotel spa, we offer two exceptional restaurants, charming alfresco spaces, and a West Coast feel that's both elegant and laid-back. Around here, where it feels like the weekend all week long, we have one goal in mind — helping you retreat, relax, reboot... and hopefully return.
