Sally's Way Dog Services

We have been a part of Sallys Pack for 3+ years now and I truly feel like Joel and Luisa are a part of our family. We called Joel when we adopted our dog, George in 2018 from a shelter that told us he was dog selective. The shelter made us really scared about his behavior and hes 100+lbs so we were afraid of what could happen if we didnt do what we could to help him adjust to his new life. From the moment we interviewed Joel I knew immediately that this was the company we were going to use to help George. Fast forward 3 years, George is the snuggliest, calmest, friendliest dog ever!!! Im so grateful that Joel and Luisa taught us best practices when we are on walks on the weekend and come across dogs we dont know. They have truly become a part of our family, sharing our highs and our lows and birth of our son. They were always a text away when I had questions on how to handle their interactions. Now they are nearly inseparable and we owe it all to Sallys Way!

I couldn't give a higher recommendation for Joel and Luisa as excellent dog trainers. They helped my puppy through basic training, including house-training, loose-leash walking, behavioral training with and around other dogs, and basic commands like wait, down, and leave. Joel and Luisa are excellent in not only teaching your dog how to behave, but they do a wonderful job in training the human how you should work with your dog. Within a month of working with Joel and Luisa, my dog's behavior was night and day as we made progress on walks, house-training, and overall good behavior. Both of them clearly love dogs and give special attention to your dog. I have worked with a few other trainers in the DC area, and Joel and Luisa went above and beyond to make sure that I and my dog were set up for success. And even after I moved out of the DC area, they were always available to offer help to ensure my dog and I were on a good path for success. I also wanted to note that I used other training services through puppy programs in the Northern Virginia area, including basic training and puppy socialization. These services are much more factory-like with no personal touch. They offer little to no nuance in working with your dog individually. Instead, Joel and Luisa offer a personal touch to work one-on-one as well as bringing in other dogs to make sure that your dog has the best experience possible. Can't recommend them enough!

My Corgi puppy is super energetic, and walking him was such a chore because of his reactivity to dogs and people. After one session, I was able to better command his attention and walks were a breeze. After a while of practicing leash walking, I even started seeing him being more calm in the house and staying closer to me on our unstructured walks to sniff and explore. I highly recommend booking a session, these guys are great!!

Joel has such an enthusiasm and great attitude when it comes to dogs and training. He's very knowledgeable and anybody can tell he loves what he does from the first moment you meet him. Our pup (an us!) learned so much from him in just the first session! Invite him over once (and meet Sally) and you'll instantly book your next session.

I've had odd and uncomfortable experiences with dog trainers in the past so meeting with Joel and Luisa was a big breath of fresh air for this nervous dog mom. Their response time was quick and they were able to fit us in for evaluation within the next few days. I wanted to learn what we as dog parents needed to do to help our nervous dog Yuna and they spent 1.5 hours with us. We did not feel rushed or unheard. We walked around our neighborhood and also did house work and the answered all questions. We look forward to participating in some of their amazing pack walks and also having another session at my in laws house so the whole family can learn from the Diaz's. By the end of the evaluation session Yuna was so comfortable she was sleeping while we asked questions.
