Whitford House

The cottage is beyond cozy and lovely-- what a respite among the farms and forest of the Vermont countryside. I attended a sporting event at Middlebury College and while the Whitford House was slightly farther away from the college than I hoped, the peacefulness of the house made it well worth the drive. I did not have time to share breakfast with Jeff or the other guests due to my early departures each day, but I'm sure it would have been delightful. The King Size bed and blankets made the nights sleep some of the best I've ever had in any hotel or inn ANYWHERE. The Wifi was excellent, the bathroom was luxurious and Jeff was beyond accommodating. He even cleared the snow and ice off my car one morning before I left. True gentleman!

We had a great stay at Whitford House, guest house. After having travelled for several weeks, we wanted to relax at a more remote location but not be cut off from comfort. The guest house did just that. Provides spacious room, wonderful views and absolute silence at night. And most of all, Jeff made us feel as if we were visiting old friends. Lots of suggestions for day trips and good restaurants. And good music! Thanks Jeff for having us. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Jeff was super welcoming and the cottage was spacious very clean and had the most comfortable king size bed around. The views were spectacular and the breakfast was superb. The best thing about this place was the privacy factor and the easy way to access the property as there were no stairs to worry about which was important to me as my ability to walk is difficult and I use a Kane. Will definitely return next year.

We had a lovely stay at the Whitford House! Jeff was so welcoming, the area gorgeous, and the room was super charming with an extremely comfy bed. We were there for a few days for work in the area, and it was a wonderful place to come back to in between busy days for some peace and rest. Thank you for your hospitality!!

Noteworthy details: Whitford House is a beautiful property in a special, serene setting and region. It's very quiet in terms of human and vehicular sounds, but filled with the raucous chirping of birds. You have a gorgeous sightline to the Adirondacks right out the door. But this is not a landscape built around tourism as you'd find in some other parts of the state. It's Vermont dairy farm country where families have been working the land for generations you will see and smell farms, on occasion! From the Whitford House, it's an easy drive to Burlington, Middlebury, the Green Mountains, Lake Dunmore, Lake Champlain, and many other places. The rooms are priced quiet reasonably, in my opinion.
