I have had the pleasure to work with Dave Day and Dave Day Fine Cabinet Makers on many different occasions and over many years. Most of my associations with Dave and DDFCM have been as the architect on projects where he has played the role of the cabinet maker. However, in this relationship naming Dave as the cabinet maker would not do his services justice. In each of these projects he has also stepped naturally into the role of artisan, craftsman and collaborator. Dave always brings new ideas to the table which complement the design direction of the project as well as imparting very practical considerations to the table. Dave understands the important relationship between form and function in the design process. His mastery of wood and how it goes together are always a part of his interactive design process. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work with Dave directly as a client. Knowing his considerable talents and his value added as a team member in the design process we elected to have Dave work with us on the cabinets for our own home. These cabinets at kitchen, media center and bathroom vanities speak for themselves every day. Not only do we enjoy their tremendous function but in addition the large part that they play in the composition of our home.
