We built a 7000+ square ft home with Connor. The theoretical advantages; - 60 years of greek revival farmhouse design - a very efficient process whereby materials are assembled in a climate controlled environment resulting greater degree of accuracy than a stickbuilt product We have had an entirely different experience. We chose a builder who had experience with 16 previous Connor home so as to mitigate the possibility or inexperience errors. Our project was complicated by; - descrepancies in the Connor plans and materials shipped requiring on-site modifications at significant cost overcharges. For example, the chimney openings on the first and second floors did not line up requiring modification on site. The foundation plans were 4 inches off requiring on site modification to the framing. These were a couple of the many issues - operational issues back at Middlebury resulting in severe shipment descrepancies and shortages throughout the project. Many of our subcontractors could not consistantly work through the project but rather had to come and go as material became available. Rather than the 2-3 month framing timeframe Connor quoted us resulted in over 9 months of fits and starts until the framing and exterior was complete. - Before I paid our final balance I confirmed with the company president to confirm the exterior doors were on site at Connor and ready to ship. Our outside doors were shipped 4 months after they we were paid in full forcing the contractor to make temporary provisions given the Northeast climate. The front door arrived almost 6 months after we were paid in full. The lock sets were shipped 8 months after paid for and had significant issues which required months of complaints until Connor finally rectified the operational shortcomings. Every exterior door has a different set of keys. We have 15 exterior doors ( many double doors ) all with different keys. We were told this is standard. I have never heard of such a thing. I could go on and on but suffice it to say we have built several homes and this was a most unpleasant experience resulting in extraordinary unanticipated expense and not what we were "sold" . I was told by **** Connors on several occasions they would rennumerate us for all the issues but our home has been completed now for 4 months and they have made no attempt thus far. It is my understanding Connor was acquired by a private equity company and they were having severe issues attempting to scale up business which caused the problems. I realize we have have no legal ground to pursue action but I feel compelled to warn those considering a Connor Product to look beyond the marketing and sales pitch. We have an amazing home and product thanks to our many outstanding subcontractors but we were very disappointed with the added expense associated, operational shortcommings and lack of follow up.
