I was not overly satisfied with my recent experience at the Service Department at Bennington Honda. We traveled to the area for vacation and our CR-Vs engine overheated on the way up. I called on Monday afternoon and couldnt get through to the Service Department. I got the answering service and was told Id get a call back soon. I never received a call back. The next morning I was put on hold for 15 minutes by service, so I hung up and got the answering service. I did receive a call back right away from service apologetic that I was on hold for so long. They did get me in the next afternoon, which was one of the few positives of this experience. Once they looked at the car, they didnt immediately find anything wrong and began guessing on what was wrong. They were wrong and suggested next steps to try, including one thing that didnt make any sense (changing the thermostat) and checking the head gasket (super expensive and not something you just repair for the heck of it). We consulted with a family mechanic and pulled the car out the next morning because he agreed that they were guessing and not trying to actually diagnose the problem. We drove the car about an hour to the family mechanic the day we pulled it out and he properly diagnosed the problem (not anything Honda had suggested could even be wrong) and did the work for much cheaper. Based on the call from the Service Department, it was the head technician who was diagnosing what could be wrong with our car. He never even guessed the radiator could be the problem, which is what was the fix.
