TLDR: shorter checker with the long gray ponytail made my kid cry. Don't go to him if you have a kid in your cart. Usually love this Costco. Typically really family friendly and my Lil 8 year old lives to go and ship with us. But today that changed. He ended up in the car crying after Gilbert refused to scan any of my items until my son got out of the cart. My son had been bottom down in the base of the cart but as I went to put things on the conveyer belt the gal helping said we could just put everything on it's side to scan. She moved two boxes of chips so there wasn't a lot of room & my kid sat on the side for a bit to hand them the card. I said it was fine he could just sit back down after they scanned. I was right there. Gilbert scanned my card then told me kids in the cart make them nervous. It took me a second to register but my son quickly moved the chips and sat bottom down. Then Gilbert paused and would not scan anything. He said " ma'am get him out of the cart." I'm not confrontational so I did so. Gilbert then scanned my items. Immediately my son buried his face into my side and stared to cry. I told him he was fine that we would just not go into Gilbert's line ever again. On the way out we saw a dad putting his son's into the cart (not in the baby seat) and I warned him not to go into Gilbert's line. Too bad! My son is such a rule follower that he is in counseling for anxiety and having the autonomy to shop for veggies, chips and help with check out was one of his happy places. Not any more. Now he said he doesn't want to go back in case all of the employees speak that way. I can sort of understand if the employee was annoyed that my son was on the side for a moment. But all you have to do is say nicely that he should be sat down in the cart. They are KIDS. He went the extra mile to scold us by refusing to check us out until my son was fully out of the cart. So very disappointed!

What can I say? It's Costco! Come for the $1.50 hotdogs, stay for the $300 in groceries when you only planned on buying milk...

It's a great place to buy in bulk for families and has reduced prices. You need a membership, but it also has great prices for gas that only memebers get which is worth the price of the membership.
