The best trucking company to work for.

New to the company, still under my first load, but so far, incredibly impressed with the efficacy, respect, and responsiveness of the company on all fronts. They care about the drivers' safety. The shop is quick to respond to anything you need done, within reason (it's on load priority basis which is understandable). Everyone in the office is nice. My DM seems very responsive and respectable. The other drivers are friendly and approachable (thanks for the pizza, Jim!) I've been driving for a while now, and I've been with some good companies. It feels like Pride still tries to separate itself from the pack in any way they can. Huge shout out to the Breakdown department for how quickly they responded to an issue I had this morning. It was fixed and I was down the road in less than an hour.

Stay away from this company. They are very friendly up until your orientation. They take safety to a whole different level and dont even give you a fighting chance of you have any safety issue. And will report to other trucking companies making you look even more incompetent of a driver. They fired me on the spot for having a tablet mounted on dash for a means of better and safer routing. As I see hundreds of other drivers have. I get it all they care about is there safety score, and if that means leave you stranded with all your things still in the truck and your puppy. Then so be it. They dont let you take the truck so you can get back home and properly unload all your belongings. Very inconvenient when you live hundreds of miles away! They even had security escort me off their premises like Im some common criminal. This company does not care about their drivers at all. Im now with a company where I met the owners face to face. They picked me up from hotel and took me out to breakfast. Shame on this company.

Applied for the company and was offered a local position in my area with the completion of a road test and orientation training which included me commuting to Salt Lake City from my home which was quite a commute but I was willing to abide to, I arrived in Salt Lake City and the following day the orientation began, there was a short introduction and I was one of the first people to take the road test, I did a full pre trip as I was informed that this test would be similar to the test of acquiring your license, I had a few grievances with this, for one I and most ordinary truckers do not do the full break test which includes testing your low air pressure alarm and your tpv as well as checking for the leakage, I asked the tester if the company expects you to inspect this as they give you a much shorter testing time than the dot test to which he replied we are looking to see how you perform your pre trip most truckers do not perform a full in depth pre trip unless they are slip seating or switching trucks, I am marked down for not doing a full break test as well as not checking the trailer permit(keep in mind they expect you to an in depth pre trip and communicate to a tester while also giving you far less time than on the dot exam), I then continue on to do the driving part of the test, there is no major issues with my driving, the tester fabricated that I had a rolling stop, that I drove too quickly over train tracks, and that I drove too slow, after several days I am pulled into the office to speak to the director of operations and director of recruiting that inform me that I am not in trouble and that although I made some mistakes, there I room for improving with a training program that will last 75 hours I meet with the training manager who laid out the guidelines to us, after sitting around for several additional days I finally meet my trainer who will be doing my evaluation, throughout our training he informs me that he has trained several people who ended up going solo and causing major accidents, he also encouraged me to run people into the shoulder who are entering the highway and cut people off, and consistently go at high speeds, these are actions that I was advised not to do at my previous company, I ended up going further with my training and completed several hours additional training, 90 hours total(which I eventually figured the company and trainer were taking advantage of me and using me for cheaper freight and longer hours of which formal employees informed of this corrupted system), after we return my trainer tells me that I am ready for the test and that the issues you had on your first test were only petty and minor the following day I am supposed to meet with the training director to discuss taking the test which was not what I expected, I am taken to a room with hr and safety(all of which have probably never been behind the wheel of a big rig in their lives) and they discuss my termination which includes reason such as not looking far enough ahead which could cause an accident, to inform the ignorant people who make the decision making process at this company, when you someone to drive through LA, Kansas City, Denver, and Las Vegas, if theyre not looking far enough ahead, they will cause an accident whether theyre with a trainer or not, I was deliberately mislead for weeks, being away from my family, being offered stable employment which I was struggling to find, and not even given a chance to retest( considering they allowed a good number of people to retest right away without training) or show my skills as a solo driver even though Pride has hired many many people who were far more incompetent and led to major accidents( I have never had an accident in my career and I have traverses some fairly dangerous and unstable conditions) so thank you Pride for stringing me a long for 3 weeks and keeping me from my struggling family when I couldve already been employed at a better company

Business Response on Google Mar 29th, 2024
Sorry you had a bad experience. We do take safety very serious and as everyone is told in orientation distracted driving is a serious issue. If a driver gets a citation for "failure to maintain lane" and "television/display in view of driver" we will terminate your employment. We did provide a $200.00 payment to you as you choose to rent a car to get back home. Given the violation we would have been negligent had we let you drive our truck after that. Wish you the best.
