PLEASE BEWARE:
Be your own advocate from a health standpoint and billing! They lack human touch in both areas. Our experience with University Health Utah has been a nightmare from a medical standpoint and billing. First and foremost, the neurologist that my son was in care with for a massive stoke misdiagnosed him/discharged him with no diagnosis only to come home and have another massive stroke (Bow Hunter’s). I honestly don’t know what my son’s condition would be now had we continued with this health system.
Secondly, their billing department has been nothing but despicable. My son’s health crisis happened in beginning of covid and while we were in the middle of an out of state move. Our life was chaos as I’d imagine any family utilizing healthcare is.
Long story short our mail forwarding somehow returned their bills and we were unaware of an outstanding balance for over a year! No phone call or alternate effort to reach me during that time.
I can not urge anyone enough that finds themselves using this healthcare organization to be an advocate for yourself or loved one. Ask “what else could cause this illness?” Even the rarest of conditions! And make sure to reach out to their billing office even if you think things were paid because they will not check for insurance or secondary coverage for you despite having the ability to look that information up. They will not do anything beyond the minimum when it comes to healthcare and billing.
I’d strongly advise those with a choice to go elsewhere.
