They have been great helping me with a great recipe for my build , big enough to handle what is specialized in and small enough to remember me when I call. My buddy I sent him yo them. He had gone through 3 turbos through his truck and was still having issues. Gillette figured out that they had been selling him the incorrect turbo. His truck runs great.

Ive brought my 2000 F350 to this shop for years. Ive worked primarily with Chris and Mason since becoming a customer and they have been upfront and professional since day 1. Even when Ive been out of market traveling, the guys at Gillette have been helpful to work with other mechanics and provide recommendations. I dont bring my truck anywhere else in SLC. Highly recommended in terms of high quality, trustworthy service.

I messaged and asked if they would do injectors that I purchased from somewhere else. They were very friendly and answered my questions quickly via google chat. They informed me they could do so but would not be able to warranty the work. I figured this would be the case, no issues. I also asked how much an inspection was and they informed me it would be $170 for a "very good" inspection and $85 for an "average look over". They informed me that they would however, look over the engine as they go while they performed the injector replacement at no extra cost. Great! That's what I'm looking for! Sign me up! We scheduled an appointment for a couple of weeks out.
I brought my truck in a day early and left the key with them while they were still open. I wanted to ask a couple of questions including to verify they would inspect the engine as they went. I did not ask specifically what they would include in this inspection so that much is my fault. They verified.
I also asked if they could bench test one of the injectors so I could know if the ones I was replacing were sized up at all. They said it would be $35 each so I agreed to have them do one of them. They charged $30 in the end.
They were very fast as my truck was ready to pickup at 4:15pm the next day (the day of my appointment) I was happy about that because they originally said they may need to keep it overnight.
I went to pick it up and we went through the checkout process. Nothing was being said about the questions I asked when I dropped off so I finally asked if they found anything in the inspection? His response;
"The tech didn't say anything about it so I don't think so".
As far as I'm concerned if I ask for something and you say you will do it, there should be some kind of follow through. The fact that it didn't get brought up during the checkout process tells me it didn't get communicated.
I am disappointed with this because I asked how much it was for the inspection and was prepared to pay for it (of course after asking what the difference between an average look over and very good inspection was).
I then asked about the injector bench test that I paid for and he did not know the size which is the specific reason I wanted it tested in the first place. His answer was;
"The tech didn't tell me if it was above stock or not so I am assuming they were stock" and then "it looks like they are Industrial Injection so they were replaced at some point".
I think they thought all I wanted to know is if they were still good or not, which leads back to the communication part.
All I could do was sigh at this point. I felt shorted on the service and while my truck is running fine after the replacement, I can't help but to be slightly annoyed with the short, 'chew it over with twix' type of responses.
I can't be sure but I was wearing gym clothes when I picked it up and I felt like they were looking at me as if I was a toolbox, you know, some white collar worker driving a cummins "what are you doing in my town" kind of looks. FYI I left my cowboy boots and levi's at home. But who cares about that.
Overall, I was happy with the service, but I felt like they just did the job and didn't address my secondary concerns. I will shop around next time. I think 3 stars is fair for what happened.
