image WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
We wanted to connect our receiver and surround sound speakers to our family room tv and run it on the Control4 platform. We met with multiple dealers, and read reviews prior to selecting Theater Xtreme. We met with their salesman Scott, who after seeing the house had been pre-wired by another home automation company, agreed it would be an easy job. All they needed to do was connect the correct pre-labeled cables to the components and setup on the HC-250. He then provided the bid for the job. Everything seemed ok, except for the installation/programming charge of $1400. Installation and programming on the mid-high end is about $85/hr based on conversations with other companies. So his quote was essentially saying this job was going to take 16.47 hours...more than 2 full days worth of work! When I called him on it, he said we could pay hourly at $85/hr as it really shouldn't take more than a day at the most. We agreed, even though I saw the red flag waving clearly.
My husband took the day off to accommodate the install. They arrived on time, but said they didn't have the casters for the a/v rack so they wouldn't be able to do much until those were on. It would've been nice to know ahead of time so we could've just rescheduled and not had to schedule another day away from work. They worked for a couple hours and had to rescheduled for a week later. The installer showed up alone that time, worked for a full 8 hours and said he needed to comeback to finish as he still wasn't done. He asked for payment, giving my husband a specific total, but presenting no invoice of what we had paid for, or if we would owe anything additional. Between the few hundred dollar deposit we paid prior to work being done, and the few thousand we were just told to pay, we were over the quoted amount for equipment and they provided nothing to indicate the number of hours we had been charged for install, and no programming had yet occurred. I called the office that night to discuss my concerns, but being after hours, I left a message for both Marshall (owner) and Scott (salesman/programmer) on their machine. Scott contacted me the next day and was highly irritated I had done that, saying I should've just called him. I said I left the message because the install guy said he was directed by Marshall to obtain payment before he left our home. Needless to say, it was very uncomfortable to work with Scott after that. I felt the way he handled that call was very unprofessional even though I had very valid concerns.
It took two more visits (one of which had to be rescheduled again due to other work they had) before we could watch the television or movies on our family room tv, but couldn't use our Playstation3 until we purchased a digital converter. Once the digital converter arrived, we connected it but had no sound from that component. We made an appointment with Scott for a Tuesday early evening. He cancelled on us via text just prior to the appointment time, and never responded to texts, phone calls, or emails to reschedule. We even called the main office multiple times leaving messages on the machine as no live person ever answered. No one from Theater Xtreme ever returned our calls. We ended up having to contact another company to finish the work, who said the wrong input had been programmed and that was the reason for no sound.
My conclusion is that Theater Xtreme must have paid friends and family for the positive reviews associated here, as my experience was no where near positive. I have never been asked to pay for something prior to the work being complete, nor have I ever been blatantly ignored by a company I just paid a few thousand dollars to. There are a ton of other companies who do this same work. Take my experience and advice and avoid this one.

image These guys apparently don't want business or are too lazy to open their doors. I came ready to purchase from them at their opening time of 10am. The doors were of course locked, but I saw an employee enter the side so I waited 20 minutes. I knocked, and my calls went straight to voicemail. What a joke

image Well in all honesty I would like to work with Theater Extreme but everytime I stop by the store the doors are locked, and these visits are during normal business hours usually around 1pm to 2pm. Calls go unanswered too. After about 6 tries I have given up. I have a whole unfinished basement that I would like to turn into a theater room but if I cannot even get in contact with a sales rep then its probably best to take my business elsewhere.

image Great thing about these guys is that even though they have the most current technology and high end products, they can help you select a system that you need rather than pushing you into something you don't. Staff was great and the store is a toy store for grown-ups. MUCH friendlier and informative than other similar stores in the area.

image I had a phenomenal experience at Theater Xtreme! The customer service was exceptional. The staff was very consultative, and invoked very little sales-pressure whatsoever. Their product selection is extremely extensive; they virtually have everything you would possibly need for a robust home theater! I would recommend these guys to anybody!
