Hey, I am writing to put in a good word for Utah Family Dental's office manager (Bruce), in Cottonwood Heights. We have really missed our former dentist of 30 years, who gradually phased into retirement working only part time since recovering from Guillain Barre Syndrome years ago. He and his staff were like family to us. Utah Family Dental bought his practice when Dr Liddle retired at the beginning of the pandemic---probably about the HARDEST time on earth to try to build up a new dental practice (or maybe even stay in the dental business). So needless to say, there have been some growing pains for this newer practice, as dentists there had to leave (because of COVID), and then a newly hired dentist had to leave due to an auto injury. Through it all, Bruce has kept things running, kept hygienists working, coordinated with their Bountiful office to fill-in the gaps, and has really done everything he can for us. Without fail, he answers the phone and greets patients with cheerfulness and displays real concern for my family's needs. He is a very patient and kind person. I understand they have a new dentist now who I haven't met yet, so I can't speak to that side of the practice at this point. However the office is so relaxed and comfortable. Two thumbs up.

After attending this dentist office for two years out of respect for Dr. Liddle after he went into retirement, I am finally moving on. Every time I've gone there has been a different dentist and hygienist, a lack of consistency which has been frustrating, especially when not all the hygienists are created equal (some have been very friendly and thorough, others the opposite). Overall I can handle an inconsistent staff in terms of friendliness so long as they do a good job, even if it's not ideal. But I finally had enough after my most recent appointment when after my cleaning (which itself was very good) I was informed that none of the multiple dentists were even in the office and wouldn't be looking at my teeth, which is the entire reason I go to the dentist! I'm not paying all of this money just for a cleaning or to have a hygienist tell me she 'thinks' everything looks fine; I pay to have a professional ensure there's nothing wrong with my teeth! The timing was especially bad as there were "potential problem areas" flagged on my teeth during my last visit that I've been very worried about, and I wanted to be sure everything was fine. Now I simply don't know, and will be left wondering until my next appointment...assuming any of the dentists actually show up for that one, which I now rather doubt. If the dentists weren't planning on showing up, I'd much rather go through the trouble of rescheduling an appointment than pay full price for an appointment that wasn't even complete. Then I was informed I'd have to pay my bill another day over the phone rather than within the convenience of the office because the one in charge of billing had decided not to show up either, and with my added frustration with the dentists' absence it was the final straw. Luckily my friend has recommended another nearby dentist she loves where it's only one dentist that is there for every appointment and his practice has a regular staff of hygienists rather than there being a new "flavor of the day" with every visit, and when I eventually move to another area my high school friend just opened her own practice there, so there isn't a shortage of options. It's a shame this dentist isn't what it used to be. Dr. Liddle was wonderful, and I feel bad his practice was sold to one who doesn't live up to his legacy. I hope they figure things out and can do well for themselves, but I no longer have the patience to be part of the process it takes to get to that point.

This place is an actual joke. It's too bad since I have seen Dr. Liddle for my entire life then he sold the practice and went into retirement. I didn't love the first time I went, but out of loyalty to Dr. Liddle, gave them several more chances. After nearly 2 years, I am out. I really like Dr. Ruiz, and that is about it. They frequently have temp hygienists, the dentists aren't there half the time and they've called me to reschedule appointments several times. They haven't bothered to redecorate or do anything since they took over. The plants are dying, there are empty shelves everywhere and it looks like Dr. Liddle moved out and they didn't do ANYTHING after moving in. It's not a welcoming place and it's a huge bummer. Hopefully they can get stuff in order and get back on track, but I'm moving on.
