It is truly saddening that Dr. Maria Rivero is retiring as she recently saved my life. I made a office visit and was seen the next day. I voiced my concerns, she listened, and advised professional care and constructive criticism. I requested labs and she agreed. I received a early morning call right as I was laying in bed after just getting home from working a 12 hour shift. Dr. Rivero urgently stated I enter the ER for a blood transfusion asap. I complied. The NP in the ER admitted me and I was given a room when Dr. Rivero walks in extremely concerned why I wasn't administered any blood products yet (a lapse of 5-6 hour +/-). Rivero immediately called for my nurse and my transfusion began within 30 minutes. I received a total of 3 units packed red blood cells. She advocated for me and I genuinely appreciate her for this. I ended up having a surgical procedure the next morning performed by Dr.Rivero and then discharged early evening once she reviewed and accepted my newest hemoglobin level. I am forever grateful for those whom were concerned in my healthcare. So, it's heartbreaking to hear that a great Healthcare provider is leaving her practice; however, I am thrilled for her and her husband to enjoy their retirement and travels.
