I recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 rifle from the Waco, Tx Cabela's Outpost. I also purchased a Cabela's scope along with multiple other items. A Cabela's employee mounted the scope. A few days later I realized the scope base was loose and soon learned the ring screw heads were stripped or rounded off. I had to use an extraction set to remove the screws. When the scope was removed from the base, I found all four of the receiver threads were stripped out. I returned the rifle and asked them to buy it back and I would purchase another rifle and install the scope myself. They refused to buy it back and offer a replacement rifle. I was told they would send it to Ruger for repairs. I was told they would pay for the repair, but it could take 6 weeks or longer for the return from Ruger. I was asked to sign a document acknowledging the return to Ruger. I asked the gun manager to document, on the same paper, that I would not be charged anything for the repair. After many requests, the gun manager continued to refuse to document in writing that I would not be charged. He said multiple times I would not be charged, but refused to document it. It is extremely frustrating to have to return a rifle that was damaged by them and receive the absolute worst customer service. I guess I'll find out in 6 weeks or longer if this incident gets worse than it already is.
