Sheela Chandra, MD

Ive tried for 2 weeks to call and make an appointment. I have sat and waited for someone to answer and nobody will. Definitely cant pick them as my doctor when they cant answer the phone, especially since its a pattern. I would hate to have a concern as a patient and not be able to get through to anyone. Guess Ill try somewhere else.

Open, honest, excellent "bedside manner". Very encouraging. Willing to spend time to work with the patient and in the patient's best interest.

Dr Chandra was an excellent listener, thorough and took my symptoms seriously. She did not talk down to me or dismiss my concerns about procedures and risks associated with them. She was very knowledgeable and professional and had an excellent bedside manner. I feel that I am in good hands with her. Also, her nurse Brooke was EXCELLENT in every way. She was professional, promptly returned my calls and worked me in when she could. She was not only extremely professional but also down to earth, funny and compassionate. She actually looked me in the eyes when she spoke and was very genuine during our interaction. I am really impressed with this first experience at Kelsey-Seybold.

I think Sheela spent 10 minutes in the room with me before she came to her conclusion of simply giving me a prescription. First thing she said was young people need to manage their stress better. Well I never said I was stressed but ok. She then recommended I change my eating habits and see a dietitian WITHOUT asking me what I eat on a regular basis. When she prescribed the medication I simply asked are there any side affects? She responded by saying Im not the kinda of Dr. that simply handout prescriptions. So my question was never answered. Because I was frequently visiting the bathroom I asked about a colonoscopy she advised me that the insurance would not pay for it because I was to young and that me taking the medication would help her better assess the issues I was having. Overall I entered the appointment feeling miserable with daily stomach pains that brings me to tears daily and I left feeling uncared for, unseen and hopeless as to where I go from here.
