UPDATE 2023 05 10: Meritage has learned absolutely nothing. New neighbors are moving in with no internet available. As we understand it, their management has had serious turn over, and there are also perceived quality issues by new buyers that I can not confirm or deny. FINAL UPDATE (probably) 2022 04 08: Since we signed last June, we have been constantly disappointed by Meritage. Several times I had to explain to debate backing out of the purchase because 1. we would have lost money on the deposit 2. The housing market was so insane that just a couple of months after signing it would have been a cost loss overall I understand there are issues world wide with shipping and manufacturing, but the lack of communication from your company only made things worse on a regular basis. Off the top of my head I can come up with a short list of poor customer service issues, and I am more than happy to spend time this weekend looking for each and every problem that popped up and was outside of our control. ~Our closing date was pushed back multiple times. ~We lost an amazing interest rate with the loan division of Meritage because of delays. ~We sold our home and then moved into a 800 square foot apartment, and that was a best case compared to some neighbors. ~Our house was incorrectly inspected and the value of the home came in under the sale price which caused a string of issues and stress. A compromise was reached between the Meritage and us. ~We were given such short notice of completion that we were still paying rent at the apartment for 2 months after closing on the house. ~The final city inspection was never scheduled and your team had conflicting stories from the city. ~We arrived for the final walk through and were told about the city inspection issue when we pulled into the subdivision on the day of closing. ~On the day of closing, we realized there were no mailboxes. It turned out someone was prioritizing the color of the boxes over having them on site. ~No internet is a huge issue and should be resolved in the next couple of weeks. My job was relevant to Meritage when the finance checks were happening, but it was not a problem when company mistakes made my job near impossible to do from home. ~At least they were able to sort out the issue with the smart home package, but I do not like how many times I have been reminded that it wasn't active when we purchased it even though it was mentioned to us over and over last year as something to look forward to when we were finally able to close on the house. UPDATE 2022 04 01: Still no internet, but at least the lines are finally being installed. I was contacted a few weeks ago by an area vice president and promises were made and never followed through on. UPDATE 2022 03 08: Still no internet. We were told multiple times last year that the ISP was in process and would be installed for closing. And, again, we did not find out there was not internet service provider until the day after closing (5 months late). UPDATE 2022 02 17: We are still waiting on the ISP to be installed at the subdivision. We signed in June 2022. We were supposed to move in mid August 2022. We closed on 12/17/2022. But at least we have mailboxes now. The staff on site are very friendly and helpful, the construction is quality, and the subdivision is coming along nicely. The real problem is that something seems to have gone wrong at every step of the process. I am not going to go into detail on the nightmarish 6-months after we signed the contract, but as of now we were sold on an eco-green SMART home and there is no communication on when we will finally have a proper ISP in the subdivision. Until that is resolved, we do not have what was promised by the builder (mobile hot spots are not a long term answer) and we did not find out that no ISP ran lines to the neighborhood until after closing. And we are still waiting on mailbox service in the neighborhood.
