Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Texarkana

Very disappointed as my room had torn carpet and the mattress was horrible...felt like I was on a waterbed...did not sleep at all. Noteworthy details: Location awful, room awful...will not be back.

This hotel is just a step up from a motel 6 (ghetto). The hotel is in serious need of an update. Outdated furniture, small and outdated rooms. Everything seemed to be broken, pool, ice machines and laundry. The gym was tiny with an old fan blowing cause theres no AC or air flow. The hallways were hot like there was no air conditioning. There was a foul smell coming from somewhere like a septic tank went out and they dont bother with any cleanliness, the trash was overflowing and there was a towel in the hallway floor that had been there my entire two day stay. I wouldnt have guessed I was staying at a Marriott chain with the condition of the hotel not worth the price. Parking is also not very good, very small parking area and the outside is in need of lawn care. Ive stayed at several Marriotts and this by far was the worst hotel.

The quality of the room/hotel doesnt match the price. Old and shabby are the adjectives that come to mind. All grass areas are overgrown and not pet friendly. Somehow all ice machines are simultaneously out of order. Front desk clerk was rude and sprung additional documentation on us when we walked in with our dinner. Room is stuffy and not cooling.

We booked this one night stay at the last minute on our trip. We immediately noticed a cigarette smoke smell coming thru the adjoining room door from the room next to ours. I brought this to the attention of the front desk. The woman was very apologetic and she said she would call that room to see what was the issue. We dropped our bags in the room and went to dinner. Upon our return the smell was worse and also smelled more like marijuana. Actually, the entire hallway had a faint smell of marijuana. We decided that this was not the best use of $156 for a one night stay. So we packed up our bags and asked for the reservation/room to be canceled. As a long time Marriott member, I cannot fathom why Marriott isnt involved with keeping properties up to brand standards. I would avoid this property and certainly not recommend.
