Mike C. Monoloff is a corrupt accountant who needs to be put in jail, I have made a complaint against him to Texas Board of Public Accountancy, He has robbed his own country USA and help people rob uncle Sam I have known Mike the CPA for 36 years and I am working on putting him in jail.

Save yourself some time and skip this firm. They have multiple complaints via the state and almost all of the work they overcharged us for, we have to pay our new firm to redo.

This is a review of Burkhart Peterson and the Houston firm Manoloff (purchased by Burkhart Peterson in December 2022) for certain financial statement review and tax services I commissioned them to perform. In my opinion, both Burkhart Peterson and Manoloff are unethical and have effectively stolen money from me through their use of dirty, fictitious, and threatening tactics that goes against the terms of our executed engagement letter! Very poor and unprofessional behavior from a "white collar" CPA office; I would recommend avoid doing business with these guys at all costs. But heres a summary of what happened; decide for yourself if you would want to do business with these guys. I entered into an engagement with the Manoloff firm for review of my quarterly financials and Manoloff deducted funds from my account in Dec 2022, in advance of the Q4 2022 review. I terminated my engagement with the firm (now Burkhart Peterson) before any review work commenced. In fact, Manoloff/Burkhart Peterson had not even signed into my QuickBooks account at any point in 2023. I then asked for a refund for the Q4 2022 review because the fee is unearned but they refused, and in my opinion, this is highly unethical and equivalent to larceny. They have done no work but they kept my fee. My engagement letter reads verbatim "look over financials quarterly..." which has not happened so they should not be able to keep the fee. I asked Mr. Peterson to assist with the matter; however, I got a highly threatening response (in my opinion) to which Mr. Peterson informed me that I owe $300 for consulting work provided by Manoloff. However, there is no record of any work ever being performed. There are no phone calls, nor emails between Manoloff and me that would substantiate that any work had been performed. Nor, is there any record that I authorized any work to be performed. Rather, I only received an outrageous proposal for a question I had asked their business development employee. Then Mr. Peterson even indicated that there is an open invoice of $1,000 for ERTC refund work done for me in Q4 2021. I contacted the IRS on February 14, 2023 and the IRS informed me that there was nothing on file for Q4 2021 pertaining to ERTC refunds. In addition, I have no records or copies of any filings, nor any third-party confirmation of Manoloff ever filing or doing any work for me. Thus, in substance, Mr. Peterson and Manoloff are asking me to pay an invoice for something that does not exist! Furthermore, my engagement letter states verbatim the fee is "paid only if funded". The fee is contingent, but they are asking me to pay the fee! Wow... So in summary Mr. Peterson and Manoloff countered my legitimate request for a refund of the Q4 2022 review work with threatening and fictitious allegations of non-existent consulting work of $300 and a contingent fee for a non-existent ERTC filing for $1,000. To make matters worse, Manoloff even filed my 2021 corporate tax return with this non-existent ERTC filing, so now I have to spend further money hiring another CPA to correct my 2021 tax return. And one more thing related to the Q4 2021 ERTC refund. I asked the Manoloff firm numerous times the status of the refund and if there was any way I could check the status. One of their responses was "You may check for the IRS contact number on their website". Wow, how rude and unhelpful can a firm be? Especially for something they supposedly performed services / earned fees for. In my opinion, both Burkhart Peterson and Manoloff, are unethical and have what has amounted to, stolen money from me through their use of dirty, outright fictitious and threatening tactics that go against the terms of the actual signed engagement letter! Again, in my opinion, this is very poor and unprofessional behavior from a "white collar" CPA office. I regret doing business with these guys and would hate for anyone to make the same mistake.
