We are sorry you feel this way. Extensions are not automatic. As a professional service corporation, we are happy to provide services we are engaged to perform. Our company policy has always been that we require a signed engagement letter and written request to extend your return. You provided us with written notice that you would not be using our services in 2023 and further did not request to file an extension. We always advise an extension to file return is not extension of time to pay tax due. We can’t speak to your situation, but in general if your circumstances change during the year we recommend providing the information in a timely manner so tax planning can be done. Additionally, our policy for prepared returns, where liabilities are greater than $1,000, we generally recommend estimated tax payments for the following tax year. It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to make their estimated tax payments as recommended.
