Archbishop Gustavo or his staff will not investigate and will cover-up allegations of abuse in his archdiocese. Keep your kids safe and away.

Cover-up at its finest. I called the archdiocese in November to report physical assault (taping of a student's mouth by a teacher), which took place at Saints Peter and Paul catholic school in New Braunfels. I left a voicemail with the archdiocese saying i was reporting physical assault by a teacher and my phone call was never returned. I then sent an email to Marty West explaining the entirety of the situation and I never received a response. So I filled out the online form on the archdiocese website to report the assault and again, I never received a response or even an acknowledgment of receipt. I then emailed Steve Martinez and explained the situation and he said filling out the online form was my best bet. Here it is December and nothing has been done. What's worst is the school administration, Jeffrey Lightsey and Kathleen Iriarte, were present when the teacher (Joseph Mahlie) verbally admitted to taping the student's mouth. Joseph Mahlie has been employed at the school the entire time and the administration said they conducted an "investigation" and have chosen to keep the teacher employed there. During their "investigation", Joseph Mahlie continued to be employed at the school rather than at the least, sent home on leave with pay. Your child(ren) are not safe in catholic schools and if sending them to a catholic school is something you've been considering, I strongly advise against it if you care about their welfare and mental well being.
