image Buyers Beware - we were going to build our Barndo with this company. They had promised that they could work with us and sign off on our loan. We already had all the contractors and wanted to start construction, but needed a formal builder on the loan. AFTER we signed the paperwork, they then said that we could NOT use our own contractors and had to wait for THEM to get THEIR bids which could take an additional 6-8 weeks. This would've been helpful to know prior to paying several thousands dollars as deposit and signing a contract. Your representative was very over confident in promising we could start building immediately since we already had all our bids and contractors picked out.
Long story short, we just ended up actually being our own builder and ate the several thousand we lost with UBuildit. They refused to give the deposit back, even though they didn't even abide by the contract. They said that the deposit was non-refundable and part of the "planning" package. Even though they failed to do any planning or do any work on the home - and 10 weeks + later, our home is almost done and we still don't have their "bids". Maybe at the very least if we were going to lose this deposit, you could actually do some work and get us back your bids and contractor list? Such a crooked company. And everyone in town had told me that, but I ignored it. I am going to continue to spread the word.

image Top notch staff, friendly and responsive. And they will get you equity in your home right away. I can't say enough at how well they are at building custom homes and how well they do at being transparent and saving for their clients.

image If I could rate uBuildit at "0" I would. I am not an angry person or client. It may seem so however it is the truth. Do not use these guys. The positive reviews you see do not tell the full truth. They are fast talking sales people who do not have a clue on how to run a professional business. Their angle is to appease you to think you are saving thousands of dollars using their service. You do save money; however, they use very low-grade contractors. They bid out our projects to the people they know and have a close relationship with. They present a scare tactic to convince you not to use anyone outside of the uBuildit company. In fact, my biggest recommendation is if you use their services, go with your own outside contractors. Since I moved in our house, I have nothing but problems. I have hired additional people to come in to make repairs because uBuildit used the stall tactic on me which is the 2-year warranty limit. I made numerous calls to them during my 2-year warranty period and did nothing but tell me they would call me back. This never happened. Now I am outside of my warranty period so I have no choice but to take them to court. My main case will be around the terrible work they performed and falsifying of client documents.
Problem areas: not building according to established codes, inexperienced personnel, faulty installed AC units, faulty electrical plug for whole house generator, whole house generator not properly wired, electrical panel not installed with Arc Fault safety switches.
Remember you are building a custom home. You dont want handymen working on your house. You want someone who knows all about custom home building. I am sure that uBuildit elsewhere in the US have a good process. This one here is not. Do yourself a favor a go get you a custom builder. Yes, they are a little more costly however, it will save you time, a lot of headaches, and not seeking legal action. If you do decide to go with uBuildit, do yourself a favor a speak with a previous customer first. Services: Custom home design, Interior finishing, Foundation pouring, Exterior finishing, Home building

Now I am outside of my warranty period so I have no choice but to take them to court. My main case will be around the terrible work they performed and falsifying of client documents. My second advice to anyone acquiring their services is to hire a home inspector. I live outside the city limits where a home inspection is optional. Most people don’t know about this because they trust uBuildit. I hired an inspector based on another uBuildit client's recommendation. Both times my inspection report was over 75 pages long filled up with numerous code violations. One of the biggest ones was my foundation frame was not properly bolted down. It was missing over 180 bolts to the main house and at 40% to the detached garages. All I could think about is if a terrible storm destroyed my house the insurance inspector would have noted the house was not properly bolted to the foundation and my claim would have been denied and I would be liable for the repairs. We also had major problems with the Electrician. One of the code violations was with the electrical panel in my garage. By code is switch is supposed to be an "Arc Fault" switch. Arc Fault switches cost around $50 each compared to the normal switches at about $3 each. The electrician installed the $3 switches however charged us for the $50 switches. Again, if our house burns down and the insurance inspector finds it was related to not having the proper switches (Arc Fault) install, my claim would be denied. Also, my plans required the installation of a whole house generator. I could not get the generator installed because the electrician did not run the proper electrical lines and he installed a regular 110v outlet on the outside of the instead on the main power outlet to service major appliances. Also, the AC units they installed are not properly working. They are making a loud banging noise that we can hear while sleep in our bed at night. I wrote Bryant Inc. because I could not get any help from uBuildit. Bryant sent their regional rep from Austin TX to investigate. The inspector told me when he saw my house, he knew automatically that the units that was installed did not fit my house. These are bargain basement, beer can units that they put in lower end homes because they are cost savings, but not in custom homes. They did recognize the noise and installed a silencer on it however it didn't work.
My last point is I have not met anyone who used this particular uBuildit office in San Antonio, to be remotely satisfied with their work. Remember you are building a custom home. You don’t want handymen working on your house. You want someone who knows all about custom home building. I am sure that uBuildit elsewhere in the US have a good process. This one here is not.
