A few weeks ago I attended a free one hour seminar hosted by Rachel Reinke of Oath Round Rock office. I had been thinking for some time that my estate plan needed some big updates. At the seminar Rachel raised several important points of direct interest to me, including some I had no previous awareness of. This was followed by a no-charge one hour personal consultation with Rachel where all my own questions and concerns were answered. The result was I decided to go with a trust based estate plan. Up to that point I had thought I did not need a trust but working with Rachel and Oath quickly convinced me otherwise. The fee for Oath trust includes many planning meetings and document reviews/changes. Further, the fee includes a good measure of no-charge lifetime support. Trusts have many advantages over will based plans. Examples are: will probate costs are significant (often more than the initial cost of the trust), a trust can hold assets for minors such as your grandchildren, improved estate taxation scenarios and very detailed methods of passing assets.
