It is Noble to want to make great horses out of these mustangs. However, there is no follow up after the 3 week "gentling" course for Veterans. Veterans a, who may not have any horse experience much less training a horse experience, are given a Mustang. I have seen several Mustangs severely traumatized by Veterans, who actually cannot afford to have a horse ,who will just let their Mustang starve & have no human contact. Follow up with Veterans after the 3 week course needs to be part of the Veterans program for up to one year. Mustangs deserve a good, safe home. Too much pride has been put into Veterans receiving Mustangs which has turned the amazing experience into a status symbol. Please choose Veterans who are really interested in caring for their Mustang. Who can actually afford a Mustang. Please follow up with following the Veteran & Mustang for one year. Assist Veterans in choosing reputable trainers for help. Ensure these Mustangs aren't being forgotten & starved to death.
