Tejas is a waste of your money and your child’s talent. Coach Nicanor Torres hit a line drive at our son out of anger. When we voiced our concern, the owners claimed the issue would be addressed. Instead, Coach Torres got even worse, refusing to shake hands with the other team after a bad loss, voicing mostly complaints with the players and seldom praising them. He speaks English so poorly that most players can’t even understand him. The players are losing their love of the game and quitting. Tejas owners and founder only make excuses for Coach Torres rather than addressing the issues, even claiming that it’s just a “Hispanic†thing! Coach Torres tells the boys how much $ he’s getting paid and that he’s not going to change his coaching style. The owners say they will just shut the team down completely if the parents don’t like the coaching. Wow! That’s how little Tejas cares for these boys.

Tejas does not handle legitimate complaints about coaching. Excuses are made and parents are told by owners and founder that their team will just be disbanded if we dont like it.

We joined tejas after hearing they had a good program. We found out first hand that the program was much less than expected. Our experience went like this: One of the volunteer coaching staff yelling at 7year old boys like grown men tell them they aren't good enough and literally berating them like MLB players. And these are the volunteers that the main guy Joel approves to lead your children. Our son had tryouts and was placed on their more experienced team, he practiced with them for weeks. He came down with strep throat and missed a game. The coaches demoted him from his team, with already made friends. They placed him on the other team and it broke my sons heart. He thought the boys he made friends with didn't like him and wanted him off the team. Is was a big mental challenge for a 7 year old that doesn't understand the complexities of baseball politics. After I approached the main boss, Joel and brought the issue to his attention, he brushed the situation off and said they felt my son needed to be on the other team, mid season. Thankfully my son is resilient and made more friends but I know his feelings were hurt and I'll never take my children or recommend Tejas. Tejas is an unorganized waste of money. We are going back to RRBL, we only joined tejas becausewe missed RRBL registration.

This select baseball organization puts emphasis on the development of correct baseball skills and techniques that are appropriate for the athletes age. The organization also puts emphasis on the athletes academics and participates in many different leadership and community activities that help prepare them to be confident and well-rounded young men both on and off of the baseball field. The organization provides an opportunity to develop at a higher level, and includes some great travel opportunities.
