This place will charge you as much as humanly possible on every visit and will insist that you get unnecessary testing to hike up your bill. Last time I was in, Dr. Lago said my cat had a tumor the size of a golf ball, forced me to get an ultrasound and said "just kidding it's her kidney" and that cost $100. Then they said I should feed my cat a different amount of food then what the actual bag of the food and general info on the internet recommended, and said if she gains weight from feeding her what THEY recommended then we needed to do MORE testing! LOL! THEN they said my other cat needed a teeth cleaning and quoted over $1200. I went to High Point vet down the road and had the cleaning done in a wonderful clinic for just under $700. This place will gouge you to death. My mom and I had been taking our pets here since I was in high school (2005), but with new ownership, having sold the hospital to a Corporate entity, it has changed them from a caring facility to a one focused on emptying your bank account. I couldnt walk in the door without spending $200. I cannot recommend taking your pets here. @VCA - Please don't post your insulting generic copy/paste response about how this is "disheartening" and you want to talk to me as you have done with every other 1 star review. I have no interest in speaking to you and you will never touch another one of my pets or see another dime from me. I hope clinics like you go out of business, you're a scam.

My fiance paid for their wellness program for our puppy. We brought her in August of 2023 because she had an ear infection. They packed her ear and charged him over $300. For the SAME ear infection, he brought her in over six times over the the next few months. Each time the bill was over $200. Finally he got frustrated and asked why they couldn't seem to figure this out. They blew us off and said there was nothing they could do and it was a dermatology problem. So I found her a dermatologist and took her in. I had VCA send over all get records to the new vet. The very first thing the new vet was that VCA blew us off and it wasn't severe enough to warrant a dermatologist. They reviewed the records and VCA never bothered to culture the bacteria to find out what kind of bacteria was in there. So they kept using the same antibiotic and charging us. The bacteria she had was resistant to the antibiotics VCA used. If they'd bothered to check rather than packing her ear with the same thing every time (and charging us $300 every time), this could have been resolved in August. Here we are in January and she's had one treatment with the new vet ($63). Her ear is FINALLY clear with no black gunk coming out. I believe VCA intentionally gave her the wrong medication so we'd keep coming back and they could charge us. They also lied in her chart and claimed that they offered to culture her ear when they did not. Of course we would have done that. We were bringing her in every two weeks for four months! They were just covering their own butts because of their shady practices. We will never use them as our vet again. Take your animals to someone who cares about them and not what's in your wallet!

I love this vet. Everyone is nice and it has a small-town feel to it because the staff answer the phone and they are always personable and helpful. So glad we switched them!

I just finished my vet appointment and was hit with a surprise $300.60 bill. I was referred here by Operation Kindness and had free wellness exam visit which is why I came initially for and to meet the vet to see if I liked them. I actually liked both the vet and the vet tech assistant, but I did not appreciate them performing services without asking me if I was okay with their pricing information first. I was misled and misguided into thinking the services were covered by the certificate. I wouldnt have been okay with paying for the services had I been told up front what the price was. There are other vets that are closer to me that are more affordable and also provide great care and offer late appointments. I was apprehensive about going to a new vet as it was and it was exactly for this reason. My sister went to VCA in Flower Mound and they didnt just run services without asking and this was for my cats litter mate so the circumstances were the exact same so there is no justification for this being done. This is exactly why vets and other medical fields get a bad rep, for clinics like this that just hit you with a bill before quoting you. They also tried to get me to sign up for a yearly contract for a care membership and this would take care of most of the costs in clinic. So they basically want to try and force you to pay a high amount or pay them for a yearly membership and make it to where paying monthly for a year for this membership is more beneficial than paying for the services performed. I really am extremely unhappy with the way this appointment ended and am so disappointed vet clinics still do this nowadays. Id rather drive to Carrollton and go to VetSavers with a clinic that Ive been with for years or got to Van Alstynes Vet clinic since theyre closer than come here. I can get a whole package that includes all kitten services for 3 vet visits and includes vaccines, nail clippings, fecal tests, deworming, felv/five test, HW preventative and a free first exam for $299 at VetSavers, why would I pay $300.60 JUST for first visit here for these services?! If this is just for a first checkup, Id HATE to see how they would hangdle a sick visit or emergency visit and how much they would charge!!!!
