They were courteous and prompt, I will give them that. However, I will advise anyone considering their services to get upfront pricing before giving them authorization to bill you. My situation is that I had a tenant install a new washing machine and called me to tell me the drain would back up when the washing machine drained. Due to work, I asked a co worker who they would recommend and we called Carrolls Plumbing and asked them to inspect and advise. Again, they were prompt and courteous. Their field tech called me and asked for authorization to snake the drain, which I granted (to fix a problem). He called back only a few minutes later and said there was no clog found, the drain never backed up when a water hose was used, but would back up when the machine machine drained and that it may be a venting issue with the drain. As a person who has worked in and for the service trade industries for the better part of 25 yrs. I fully expected to pay a service call, as fast as they got to my property I could see even an emergency service call. But to be billed for snaking a drain at $285.00 only to be told there is no clog and that it MAYBE a venting issue and Im still in the same position I was before they visited the property, It left a bad taste in my mouth when I think of quality service. I called to confirm the invoice was correct and asked what the base service call was. Their base service call is $150.00 which is very reasonable. I was also advised that they normally charge $350.00 to snake a clogged drain. So I was apparently given a discount on the drain snake job that wasnt even needed in the first place. I paid the invoice and have wrote it off as a partial diagnosis fee in my mind..but Carrolls Plumbing should have charged me the $350.00 they normally charge, because Ill never ask for their help again. You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once!
