We hired TJ to install vinyl flooring. After eight months, the floor started buckling and peeling. Not only did he provide a faulty product, the installation was done improperly. The manufacturer blamed the contractor; the contractor blamed the manufacturer. I hope this review will help someone. We realize our only option is legal recourse to recoup our money. If you were looking for the worst experience you could ever possibly imagine where he tells you he will be done in two weeks and four months later youre still not complete useless contractor. If not please stay away. I have attached screenshots of text messages from this guy not responding to me he has now had the audacity after we have paid him $280,000 to cancel our contract and still try to bill us more when our house is nowhere near complete. Save yourself the headache he seems super nice and then even his workers will say he has no idea whats going on with the project. I would give a negative number if I could I cannot say how much I hope that he does not do this to someone else. On top of that the review below has pictures of MY home!! So obviously a fake review. Please beware of this business and its practices before hiring. TJ, Thomas Reilly it would seem by my interactions during this time, is not driven by high standards and a passion for excellence. Texas Best General Contracting does not strive to provide superb service to and quality to his clients. He was hired by my kids to do a remodel and an addition as well as (later, without a contract ) to construct a mother in law cottage for myself. The outcome was poor at best. He quit before completion in May 2022, despite the contract for the main house, after months of delays. His initial BID increased exponentially. The BID, separately given for the MIL cottage, we have now learned was fraudulent in that he had to have know it was far to little a price, it appears given with knowledge that he would have to increase the price. He stated he could get a better rate for the framing getting it through him 38,000 approx vs homedepot at 46,879.00. He did get a better rate, yet, charge a higher rate without the added service discussed, the ground work, septic. On attempts for detailed cost analysis on both jobs he diverts attention repeatedly without answering. For the main structure towards the end when questions raised why after 6 months there was still framing without plumbing, 1/2 electrical +more,. Also, why there were only 1-2 men at a time working, that if he had more people on the job it would likely have been done when he estimated originally. Ie(By thanksgiving and certainly before Christmas, this got pushed month by month. In March he said it will ready in the middle. We had movers scheduled, flew out and discovered there was still just framing. He stated, I need more money if you want it done quicker.. It would have been prudent to give an estimate 1-2 people working and it takes 18 months or increased number of people and 3 months. The original estimate did not give amount of workers and time frames for the main house. Simply the approx amount with as stated completion by thanksgiving, certainly by Christmas. We have hired another contractor who is shocked by the state of THE WORK ON THE HOME and the junk that was left around the home. It has discovered that the plumbing was done poorly LARGE leak in the home when turning the faucet on outside, no plumbing to bathroom x2! The inspection didnt pass for the framing, yet, TJ continued to move on. Per the permit dept they are concerned over other inspections of his as well. As for the structure for the MIL cottage, it was accepted by Texas Best damaged and unusable at delivery. The property was used as a dump. He left it there. . We had other ideas for the mil cottage and unfortunately, we listened to TJ and went with this structure. He should take the structure and return the money, that is my feeling on this matter. Another note is the people who work for him started to speak on his character and stated that he trys to short cut, asking for poor quality, doesnt pay workers, as well as insurance fraud. This is second hand information and not confirmed. We found reviews that had pictures of this home, specifically the concrete added for the addition, with a good review as if it was a porch, written by someone random. Likely, the good reviews on his company are false. Also have seen some of his workers writing reviews. I will update as more is found out by the current contractor and the county. I have included photos of how he left the property. He is the treasurer of the Libertarian Party in McKinney. I hope someone is overseeing his work! Once more, beware.
